How long before 2nd IVF after M/C?

Hi ladies - I miscarried over the weekend at 5 1/2 weeks. Haven't really had a chance to talk to the dr. since they won't confirm the loss until they do another bt on Friday. Anyone know how long I will need to wait before we do a FET? We have 9 totsicles waiting to be a beautiful baby.

So sorry to hear about the weekend events...

I don't really know how long they'll ask you to wait where you were so early in the pregnancy... it's likely they'll just ask that you have a normal period (not the one you'll likely get in a few days but the one you get after that.) and then start your FET cycle. Good luck!

I didn't mc, but my FET came right after AF on my IVF cycle, some make you wait.

As far as MC, don't count yourself out yet. I was sure I MC, bleeding, really bad cramps, passed alot of clots, I didn't MC. They think that one of the babies was MC, but the other is still there. I know it is hard, I lost all hope, but there was the little heart beat on the screen.

I'm so sorry for your loss. Having just been thru one myself, I understand what you're going thru. This was our 1st ever pregnancy and 1st fresh IVF. Your situation might be a bit different. They might say wait one cycle or not. My RE on the other hand wants me to wait until after the holidays, possibly try our FET in January. I didn't m/c naturally. I had 3 doses of methotrexate and had to undergo a D&C last Monday.

I hope that you're able to get the answers you need on Friday and find peace. Good luck to you.

Taylor,
I was told I have to sit out for 3 cycles. So at least until probably February. Which I thought that I would be getting AF as part of the MC but now I'm not sure if this counts as AF so then I have to count December, January, and February and then go March? I haven't gotten full details either. I've got to wait for the 0 which I'm sure I'm at now.

Thank you all for your answers.

I will go in for another beta tomorrow and expect it to have decreased drastically. Then maybe I can talk to the dr. I had a D&C the last time and they made me wait 3 months. I hope they don't make me wait that long.

Taylor20, I am sorry about your miscarriage. Here is what my RE recommended for me. I just had a miscarriage with my last IVF at 8 weeks.

I miscarried naturally. After that it took 40 days before my next period (normally takes 4-6 weeks after m/c). That is where I am at now. I will sit this month out and with my next period (4 weeks from now) I will start my FET. It sounds like all RE's have different recommendations. Just take the time to heal your mind and body so the next time you will have everything go perfectly. I know it's hard to wait...trust me I know. But in the long run it will be worth it. Your uterus needs time to get back to normal.

Good luck with your next cycle and I hope you feel better soon.

Also, if they give you that shot that helps you miscarry it takes 3 months for it to leave your system so I hope you don't have to get that.

TracyB - Thanks for that information. That is kinda what I figured. I thought it would probably be at least January before I can start again. I didn't have that shot so I think it will just be a matter of my body getting back to normal.

I'm so sorry about the m/c. I pretty much went through the same exact thing. IVF then m/c at about 5 1/2 weeks. My RE is having me go through 2 cycles then do FET on my 3rd cycle. I know my RE likes to check the uterus on the 2nd cycle to make sure things are clear.

Thankfully, I started my period exactly 28 days after the m/c started so we will likely do FET end of Dec. It's hard to wait, but with previous experiences, I know it's best.

It's wonderful you have 9 frozen! Wow! Wishing you all the best.

Thanks Kim. You are using your own eggs right? We did several IUI and had one m/c at 7 wks and a chemical. Because I am 43, we decided to use donor eggs. I was so excited when I got pregnant and didn't figure I would have any problems since my donor was so young. But m/c's can happen at any age. I had some stress the day I started spotting, and wonder if it may have had an impact. My 80 year old mother was having knee replacement and that night my 82 year old father had a stroke on his way home from the hospital. They are both doing well, but I wonder if the stress of that had something to do with it. I started spotting the day after and everything up to that point had been great.

Yes, they're my own eggs. If the FET in Dec doesn't work or I have yet another m/c, I think we'll consider donor eggs. I am just really sick and tired of having m/c's. So over it.

I'm sorry about all the stress and your grandmother. I've done the same thing...wondering if a m/c was because of stress or something else I did. With my first m/c, I was doing a lot of intense exercising and was convinced it was because of that (didn't know I was preg right away) so I stopped exercising with the next preg. Got the same result.

Looking back, I know exercise, stress, etc weren't the issue. I've had 4 m/c's and with each one, I was doing things differently. Stress, no stress, totally relaxed and doing yoga. Exercising, not exercising, exercising too much. Eating healthy, not eating healthy. Acupuncture, no acupuncture. See where I'm going with this?? All had the same result.

Go easy on yourself. Like you said, a m/c can happen at any age. And rest assured, your odds are so much better with the donor eggs even though you had the bad luck this time. Wishing you all the best!!

Talked to the nurse today and they did finally confirm. My hcg went from 3972 on Monday to 668 today. We talked a little about the next step. I am going to go back in next Friday to see if that level is down to 0. They said I can try anytime 30 days after the level hits 0. If it is 0 next Friday, that would put me starting meds mid Dec and doing the FET early Jan. The problem with that is Jan is our busiest time at work. We work long hours and it is rush rush rush and stressful. So I think we may consider waiting until Feb. That seems so far away, but it will go fast with the holidays coming up. Thank you all for your inputs!

So sorry to hear!

You might want to wait to Feb. But the FET is so much easier and less time consuming, so it might not be hard to do it in Jan. it doesn't really interfere with work like a fresh cycle does. But if you want a less stress when you do it then wait.
