I am just starting to finish bleeding after a mc, everything was done and passed nautarally. I am wondering is this then considered a "period"? Will I then ovulate in 2 weeks like I normally would? Im a bit confused as far as tracking and timing what and when I should be expecting next.

Anyone gone through this?

We cant do another IVF cycle (our #2) till January, so we wanted to maybe try on our own and hope until we can start again.

I'm so sorry, having been thru the same thing myself, I can relate. I was told that the bleeding is not my actual period. I asked the same question because DH and I want to try FET when I heal. My situation was a bit different, I didn't pass naturally, I had to undergo a month of methotrexate injections plus a D&C.

Not sure about the ovulating. I don't ovulate on my own every month and use injections to help with that. Keep in mind that your cycle may be off because of all the hormones (meds) IVF puts us thruough.

With each of mine, my cycle went right back to normal. I would start my next period pretty much 28 days after the m/c bleeding started. So, yes, for me, the m/c was like a period in terms of days of my cycle (definitely NOT like a period in terms of how it feels and what is happening with my body). Also, I bleed for a good two weeks with a m/c and still get my period on time. It wasn't fun to have to deal with a period so soon after bleeding for 2 weeks, but it sure was nice to get my cycle back on track so quickly.

Pretty sure you can ovulate right away. I think it is just different for each situation. For me, I know for sure I ovulate after my first period.

I got preg thru IVF and had first beta on Sept 14th and #s didn't rise that week and then m/c and started to bleed Sept 24. It was just like a normal period and was a few days after I stopped my PIO shots. Well I must have ovulated like 17 days later bc I got pregnant on my own then and am now 6 weeks along. My OB says they like you to wait to try again a few months after m/c to help uterus clear all out-- but oh well. I have seen several women on here with similar stories- guess you may be more fertile after m/c?? I have not had trouble ovulating in past, so maybe that is just true for those who do???

Hello njlb. I'm sorry for what you are going through and I have too been there. When I had my second m/c my re told me its not consider a period when you are bleeding after a m/c. But in terms of getting your period it should arrive as normal the following month( 28 days from when you started to bleed). Plenty of people tell me to try to concieve after you m/c cause your uterus basically has been cleaned out and I heard stories where women have concieved this way. I wish you luck .
