West Michigan REs...

I am going for a consult with Dr. Dodds in Grand Rapids on August 10th. This is my first consult with an RE and I'm VERY nervous/excited. I have blocked tubes, so it would appear as if IVF is my only option. Has anyone seen Dr. Dodds? If not, could you recommend a clinic in Michigan? I am willing to go anywhere in the state, and even Chicago area.

Thanks!!!

Roxey- I saw Dr Dodds!! You will absolutely love him. I was really sad when I "graduated" to my OB because I wanted to stay with him. We did one failed IVF, but our second try we are pregnant with twins! Good luck with your journey, praying you get a BFP! Dr Dodds was very personable, and did everything in his power to get us pregnant. We had a great experience at his clinic, I hope you have the same.

Roxey: I also see Dr. Dodds!!! I think he is wonderful and he has the highest success rates in Michigan! The office is great- the nurses are wonderful and there is never a long wait. HIGHLY recommend!!

RinnieMarie: Wow - you give me lots of hope!! We just had our first failed IVF cycle so I'm hoping the 2nd cycle does the trick. Congratulations on your twins!!!

I have not been treated by Dr. Dodds yet, but we did have a consult earlier this year with Dr. Young. We are planning to do IVF in January. I am very happy with them so far. I switched to their clinic because the prices were better that our previous RE, and both Dr. Dodds and Dr. Young are very personable. From our experience so far, I would definitely recommend them!

Thanks ladies for being so helpful & hopeful! I am a very positive person and HOPE that it works for us! I told myself that we would stop after the first try, if we weren't successful. Maybe we should be open to giving it a couple of tries... It's hard because my best friend is due in a month and another close friend had her son 6 weeks ago. All each of us here wants to see is a !!!!

RinnieMarie: CONGRATULATIONS on your TWINS!!!! That is wonderful! I hope you are feeling good & everything is going well for you!!! I have always wanted twins! Maybe I will get my wish too

LD: GOOD LUCK! I hope 2nd try is the charm!

Thanks for being so positive and for the great feedback!!

MissMuss: Good luck in January!! I'm so happy to hear that both doctors are personable. My hairdresser saw Dr. Young, but only for meds & diagnostics. She never went through with IUI/IVF. After giving up, she found out she was pregnant. We too are saving so that we can start at the beginning of next year. I was told that our insurance will cover diagnostics, so I'm crossing my fingers that it is true! I won't be able to use vacation time until then, because I have THREE pregnant co-workers! Two due this year, the other in January.

I also saw Dr dodds and I can say nothing but good things about him and dr young they are both wonderful. the staff is also great. I go to the kalamzoo office for most things but the GR office for IVF FET ect. I am totally in debt to them for giving me my wonderful DD and my little guy due in Oct. I have never seen another RE but have heard nothing but good things about them.

oh and I was going to say I also have blocked tubes due to an ectopic and wish we had gone the IVF route right away and not wasted a whole year on IUI. Live and learn.

HRMS: CONGRATULATIONS!!!! How exciting!!! It's great to hear such positive feedback from everyone! I plan on going to the Kalamazoo office for most appointments!! It's much closer for me! Do you like your OB? I am thinking of switching once (hopefully I am not being presumptuous) I get pregnant. My friends LOVE their OB's at OB-GYN PC at Bronson. I'm sorry you spent so much time only to find out that your tubes were blocked. It's wonderful to hear about your success!! Good luck!!

my regular ob is Scott Peterson with Bronson OBGYN in Portage but I am high risk this time around so I am seeing Dr Austin at the MFM office right next to the ob your are talking about. They share a waiting room and are always busy but I have never used them. I had my DD at Bronson and of course plan on having this baby there as well.

I have to agree with everyone here. We've been with Dodds/Young (GR office) for almost 2 years now and we love it there. The whole clinic is great. I primarily see Dr. Dodds and he is very personable and kind. Unfortunately we've had some bad luck along the way but everyone was very comforting and helpful. I also appreciate the fact that we almost always come out of our consults feeling much more positive and hopeful...that says a lot in my book. Still not pregnant yet but I have high hopes that it'll happen for us soon. Good luck and I hope you get your BFP very soon.

Sorry to hear your July Cycle didn't work I remember seeing you in the July forum but I dropped out because we decided to try surgery first before our next cycle. So now we are looking at IVF in Sept/October. We'll likely do the antagonist as well. I hope the next cycle is THE ONE for you.

HRMS: Sorry to hear you are high risk. I hope you have an uneventful pregnancy. I have heard good things about the MFM office. My OB is Scott Pierson through Borgess Women's Health in Portage. I would rather deliver at Bronson because I have heard such wonderful things about L&D there. I also have a sneaking suspicion that I will be high risk, due to Crohn's disease, 3 abdominal surgeries and scar tissue. Borgess doesn't appear to have a MFM practice.

Mabelina: I'm sorry to hear that you have had a rough journey. I will keep you in my thoughts and hope you get a this next time around!! It WILL happen!
