1st IVF in March for 35 & Over

Hi -

I'm 38 and starting my 1st IVF in March. Wondering if there's anyone else out there like me willing to share the journey.

We have MFI so we went to the front of the line so to speak & will be doing IVF w/ ICSI. Looks like I'll be going straight to stims & probably starting those on March 2nd.

This whole process is so crazy! Like many of you we are completely OOP, that in itself is overwhelming to say the least but oh so worth it to get that BFP.

I am also getting ready to start my first IVF ICSI! I just started my period yesterday, so have to call my IVF nurse tomorrow and get started on BCP and get my day 3 lab done. She said it could take a week for me to know what schedule/cycle is, but should be Feb/March cycle. I am just so eager to get started and a little worried Feb/March won't work because we have house guests coming to town in March (possibly at time of ER/ET). I can't wait to get my schedule so I know if I can go through with it.

Do you know your schedule yet?

I am very new to this process and this forum. But like you I am over 35 doing IVF w/ICSI and doing it all OOP. I am on Day 8 of stims and hoping for a egg retrival by the weekend.

This process has been a complete roller coaster and financially draining, but to get that BFP would make it all worth the journey. Although everybody has a different story with different treatments and results, it has been a great support and resource for me as newbie. I wish you the best of luck with every stage.

Hi Ladies! -

So nice to have you to share this with!

FingersCrossed - Don't know my scheduled exactly but I do know that they will start me on stims on CD3 if everything looks good then we should do ER roughly the week of March 12th & ET (if we get to 5 day) the week of the 19th.

Passion & Trying2 - sounds like you ladies are just a bit ahead of us - So exciting!!! It will be great to have you help us out with what to expect.

Has anyone here shared this with friends or family? We ended up telling my mom & have told a couple we are very good friends with only because they have been through this already & had their first baby a few weeks ago. It's odd....I get really excited but then I stop myself because of the "what if"...I know I can't think that way but - wow, look at me rambling! Yikes!! - sorry...anyway guess what I'm trying to say is what we all already know which is this definitely is a WILD rollercoaster of emotions. Thank goodness for these boards!!

We decided to tell one friend each just so we have a little personal support, but other than that we have agreed to wait until for a BFP. I just dont want the added stress.

bblve - it looks like I will be a week behind you. I spoke to my IVF nurse this morning and she thinks that I should be on what she called a standard overlapping schedule (starting on BCP's today for about 2-3 weeks). This should put my ER the week of 3/19. I won't know for sure until next Monday though.

We did tell a few people, but are keeping it very limited. Basically same as you...each told 1 person, but we told our parents also. Maybe we shouldn't have done that, but too late now! We aren't telling anyone else until the BFP!

Good luck everyone!

Hey everyone! -

Sorry it's been a bit since I last checked in, super busy at work - but have exciting news....ordered my meds and they will arrive this weekend with the last of it arriving the following week!! Really excited but at the same time trying not to get my hopes up - silly isn't it?

DH and I will be doing a little get away to celebrate V day and visit friends - kind of our last whoo-raa before we officially start.

Hope everyone is doing great. Baby dust to us all!

Please Explain the difference

I am doing research because me and my husband are considering IVF. I had a tubal reversal in 2001 after my first relationship that produced 2 beautiful children. I was young when I had them and of course the relationship didn't work out. After 10 years of being single, I got married and my husband doesn't have any children and I so desperately want to have a child with him. I was doing some research, but I'm still unable to find the difference between traditional IVF and mini IVF, I would like to know the difference before I visit with the doctor on March 2.

I do know that mini ivf has less drugs to take than traditional. With traditional, I believe there are more drugs to help with producing more and better quality of eggs.

Hi bblve - Good to hear from you again. That is so exciting that your meds are on their way! It is funny to think we are excited about poking ourselves with needles every day, but I think it makes me feel like I am doing something. And, we are that much closer to the BFP! I think it is healthy for us to get our hopes up. It relieves stress quite a bit, for me at least. I know it is a guarded "hopes up" but still, it helps so much. I can tell you that is how I have gotten through this TTC journey for the past 3 years. On Monday I started BCP and had my day 3 labs. I just had my HSG this morning and it wasn't bad at all. I am supposed to get my official schedule on Monday. Yeah! Let me know how the first injections go! What meds do they have you on?

ahinojosa - I think mini IVF is really referred to as a short cycle IVF. Google that and you get LOTS of information!

Hello Ladies!!!

I'm just hoping in for a second. I have been over worked and over studying and in the midst of moving as well. I will take my first Lupron injection tonight and I'm nervous but I know I will be fine.

Mini vs. regular IVF. I was told by my RE that it is a waste of money. I disagree, she just didn't want me to leave because she doesn't do it. It all boils down o the amount of meds you take and the amount of eggs you will get. It's less expensive and you don't have to put your body through so much.

Hi ladies---I'm not in March but my first is in February, stims starting now and i'm doing the mini stim version. There is a lot of views on line and so far if you get pregnant it is great and when you don't it sucks.

I'm going for quality based on my age so we're going to take as many as we can and hope for the best. Have been building up the quality since Nov-Dec 2011 so are giving it our best shot.

Good luck to you all!!
