Question New at this

Hi Everyone,

I'm new to this whole concept of IVF. I guess first off I shouild fill you in on why I'm intrested in this procedure. Well to begin with I'm a 22 yr old female who desperately wants to conceive a child and the man that I'm with (my fiance) is 53 and has had a vasectomy 20+ yrs ago. I'm doing some online research into my possibilities and I've already looked @ adoption (which will most definitely be my last option) and now I'm considering looking more into depth with IVF. Is this the right route to consider? I wanna get all my information together before I bring it to my finace. . .he said that he'd give me a child if he could but it doesn't seem feesible. Any and all comments.help would be greatly appreciated. ..

Are you sure that your husband's vasectomy cannot be reversed? Do you have fertility problems also?

Question

From all that I have read that a vasectomy reversal has slim to no chance of taking if it has been 10 yrs or more since the vasectomy itself and that interetested parties should consider a procedure such as IUI or IVF. And as for myself, I've not had a child thus far and don't believe that I have any problems being able to conceive. So, what should my next step be at this point?

I would think you should make an appointment with a Reproductive Edocrinologist... let them run some preliminary bloodwork on yourself... especially FSH levels, progesterone, Estradiol... typical hormone panel... get the results and then go over the options with the RE... it will give you the opinions of a professional along with your possibilities of using donor sperm IUI (less invasive and cheaper than IVF). Hope this helps.

I don't think you should depend only on what you have read to decide what to do. My sister is a nurse and she said as far as she knows, it depends on the person not amount of time. I would consult a doctor before making a decision.
Good Luck.
