Grade of Embryos

Did everyone's RE give them the grade of their embryos? I just realized that a lot of you have your grades in your signature, and mine didn't tell me the grade just the cell count. Should I be worried??

Hey Lady

Funny Meeting You Here!
I've read that they like them to be above a grade C
Here is some interesting info that I found online about when doctors cancle cycles (its more about donors but it still would apply to what is good or not) Every place has different standards I think-
Anyhow Chica I want you to get your rest!! You will be fine!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Whether or not what the standards are I have seen woman on here get pregnant that doctors would probably doubt they would!!!!!

When to Cancel a Donor Egg IVF Cycle

Shannon- My doctor has never told me any grade information, either. I get antsy to know everything, so it is kind of hard for me not knowing how my embies compare with others. But, the nurse reminded me that high grades and low grades guarantee nothing, so that is my theory about why they never told me.

This is so interesting. Before my ET, my RE made me have a consult with the embryologist about embryo quality, etc. Ultimately, we were told that my DH and I were "picking" the embryos but that the embryologist and RE would be guiding us and recommending which ones we pick. The conversation involved a discussion about what grade and cell structure meant... fragmentation, etc. We even had to sign a form saying that we chose certain embryos that were certain grades and when I was in the ET I had to repeat it verbally while lying there. I asked them if any couples actually chose embryos that they had not recommended and they said never. I think its interesting how some clinics do things so differently!

Wow where do you live? That is very interesting, on the ET my DR. just said, well you have 2 grade 1s and were using them both, and that was it, and we had a 4 cell, but they said we should only transfer 2, they said the 4 cell most likely wont make it.

I'm in Seattle. They made us all go to in-vitro orientation as well. It was a one hour class on what to expect. The embryologist got up there and taught us a little bit about how they choose embryos etc. What the differenct grades mean as well. Everyone seemed to have a lot of questions so maybe they like to pre-empt all the phone calls that way?

Maybe my doc's been sued before... that's all I can think of. we had a packed almost an inch thick of waivers and release forms.
