Ladies-

I am currently 10 weeks pregnant tomorrow......on 1/14 i had a progesterone test and hcg test my hcg test was 109,000

I had another test today 1/24 10 days later and my hcg is 67,112....
I am so nervous I have had a missed miscarraige...
does anyone know why the levels would drop so much???

I have heard the heartbeat twice everything has been going fine

I am going for an u/s tomorrow to make sure everything is ok

does anyone have any insight?

I think you may find this link helpful. Apparently your levels peak and the begin to drop and level off. Looks like you're just fine!

Hey, I know it has been a while since this message went up, but I was just wondering what happened with your #'s and pregnancy in general. Last night I went to the ER with a bit of bleeding, no pain, no cramping. My cervix was closed, but they did an hCG test on me. I am 10w1d & the # came out as 70,000. He said it was strong. However I told the doctor I had it tested at 7w5d and 8w2d and the numbers were 138,000 and 148,000 respectively. They scared the living hell out of me. And their equipment (ultrasound) was shoddy and the tech didn't know what he was doing. They set me up with an ultrasound for tomorrow @ 12:30, but I am soooo freaked out and upset. It wasn't until I did some internet searches that I found a lot of cases of people at 10 w experiencing this & seeing the numbers drop. And I found sources saying you should never even GET your numbers tested past 10 w. I am so confused. What happened in your situation. Hopefully I'll have something more to report tomorrow.

Relax. That's normal. hCG declines at this point because it's not relevant anymore. hCG is meant to sustain the corpus luteum to produce progesterone and estradiol, but by 10 weeks the placenta produces its own. The corpus luteum is no longer needed, and neither is the the hCG.

Most clinics don't even run hCG at this point because it has little diagnostic value. Go by the ultrasounds.
