Going through loops on my IF rollercoaster ride...

I talked to my nurse yesterday and she said that my RE said I could start stims tonight even without having the results from that blood work my hubby had to have last week. So, I go in today for an u/s and blood work and my coordinator gives me the go ahead to start tonight. Now, I get a call from my RE a few minutes ago telling me to hold on the Lurpon until Monday!!! WHAT?!?!?! She said she wants to wait longer to see if she gets the blood work results back. I expressed my concerns about being on Lupron for this long and she said she would leave it up to me to decide! I'm no RE!! I want to do what she says to do but this is a little ridiculous to tell me to hold off one day, then to start another, then to hold off again!!! So, she said she wanted to talk to the study coordinator first and someone would call me back. In the meantime, I called DH...he is FURIOUS!!!! We signed our paperwork back in April for this IVF and the RE "let" us do it. So, she's been well aware that we were in the process. It's not our fault the blood work wasn't ordered sooner. Granted, I don't want to proceed if there is something wrong with the results!! My options are cancelling and getting NO MONEY BACK (we paid $5500)...or going forward with starting stims tonight. If we get the results back before my ER and they're bad...we just stop!! And still get no money back!! If we get them back after my ER, we can freeze the embryos. But what good will that do if there's something wrong with them based on this blood work my DH had?!?! This is so cruel!!! They were apologetic and everything, but still!! How can they screw with us like this?!?!?! As it stands right now, I'm starting at 225 units of Gonal-F and 75 units of Luveris tonight. Since I've been suppressed for a longer period of time, they said I need to start off with a higher does of stims. Is this all going to be a downward spiral from here? I want to go into this positively and having a chance for success!! Could all of this make us unsuccessful?!?!?

Wow Sheri - That is messed up and I am so sorry you are having to go through that! I can't understand a place where an RE would need to talk to the Study coordinator to figure out what to do...shouldn't it be the other way around?? That just sounds inept to me. I wish I had more good advice for you, but the only thing I can suggest is that stress won't help so try your best (even though I know it is hard) to just take deep breaths in and try to stay focused and not get too worked up. Easier said than done I know. I'm sorry you are going through that again...

Just got back from my u/s--1 bean!! The baby measured perfectly and we saw the heartbeat, so I am super excited! FYI, my RE told me once you see the heartbeat there is over a 90% chance that you will not miscarry, so that is very reassuring I think!

Courtney, good luck on your upcoming u/s!

Thanks Kristen. I think the RE needed to talk to the study coordinator because she wasn't completely sure about the terms of the study. She said she needed to find out when the results had to be turned in by and when the latest I could start to participate in the study was. She had the nerve to ask me if I wanted to completely stop right now and then go back on BCPs and "start over" again in about a month!!! Um...NO!!! My coordinator said that there is no way I can just stop now without losing what we paid already. I either have to hold til Monday, stop without a refund, or continue. DH and I chose to continue but we're worried!! We need the results from that darn blood work!!!

I am so happy for you. Congrats on your little bean. So I have another question. When you went to the clinic today they did Beta 4 or has that number already been there? I don't remember now. I can't wait for tomorrow. My dh and I are so excited. Hopefully we get wonderful news before this long weekend. Man this wait is for ever long.

Kari - Good Luck tomorrow.... I'll see you there.

Well, I don't think waiting till Monday is too horrible though if you need too. The reason I say that is you started Lupron on 6/17 right?? MOST of us on the study in Houston are on the Lupron for at least 14 days. So if you start right now, you are only on day 15 and I know several girls on our end were on Lupron for an extra week due to scheduling...so I don't think you are at risk of really being too oversupressed ( of course, I'm not the RE either)...I just wanted you to not worry too much about having to wait until Monday. I was on Lupron for 15 days before I started Stims and I know Kari is going to be on them for an extra week as well...

Courtney, I actually did Beta #4 on Monday, so I didn't do it today. But I think every RE does it differently, some people only get 2 or 3 betas before their u/s. Hope you have a GREAT u/s tomorrow!

Huh. That's weird. I wonder why they did 4 on you and I didn't do one. Aren't you in the Webster clinic with me? Yea I think that for the most part all I have seen were 3 and you were the exception. I was just curious. Thank you for the well wishes. I will keep you posted.

Courtney- I am not working tomorrow so I am going to try and get there a little early to see if they can see me earlier. I want to be able to sneak back there and see what you have going on in there!

Sheri- I can understand your frustration- TRUST ME!! I have been pushed back so many times in this cycle! But I have to trust the advice that the dr's are giving me and that they know what's best for me. I have been on Lupron since June 13th!!! The amount of Lupron that you are taking is such a low amout that I really don't think that a couple of extra days will cause you to over supress. I know you are anxious to get started and girl so am I but I just have to believe that there is a reason God keeps delaying us.

Babywishes- Congrats on the 1 healthy bean!!! How exciting for you!

Well tomorrow I am having my cervical dilatation and getting my stims to start on Friday. FINALLY!! Man I am so ready for this cycle to get going!

I hope everyone has a wonderful holiday weekend!!

I didn't realize that. Thanks!! That makes me feel a lot better! Yep, I started Lupron on 6/17.

Thanks Kari!! I didn't realize that you had been on Lupron all this time too. I guess I wasn't paying enough attention. Ooops!! I'm going to start stims tonight and just pray that my office get the test results back soon!!

Good luck with the CD and starting stims!!!!
