In SC study which is also with Duramed I had to pay for all meds except for the birth control. So I hope it is different for you all in TX.

Hey everyone, just wanted to post an update, I decided that it was going to be too hard for me to travel to Houston and miss so much work, and I found out that they are doing the study in Austin as well, so I have an appointment on Monday with the clinic here to start the process. I'll let you all know how it goes! It's going to be more expensive, as I have to pay for my own medication, but I think the convenience is worth it to me.

Kristen, I agree, it only takes one! Good luck, I'll be thinking about you.

Which clinic is doing it in Austin? Do you have to pay for all of the meds??? About what is the price?

She said that we just have to pay for the $500 facility fee and what "regular everyday meds" that my insurance covers, i.e., antiboitics, etc. Duramed covered the BCPs,and I am already out of pocket $99 more for the other meds needed for ER day. Today I get a phone call from Freedom pharmacy saying that I need to anty-up $2039.00 for the med pack. WTH??? I have a call into MaryAnne to find out what is up. She told me in the beginning that meds were covered, and I specifically told her at the beginning in front of DH, God and myself that my insurance covered Nothing!!!! Zilch!!! Is anyone in this situation?

I'm not in the same study but I spoke to Melanee who is also doing the study at CORM in Houston and she said they sent her the Lupron directly. I don't think that is right because usually Maryanne just gives you the meds directly when it is time to start them. I would call Maryanne or email her and ask because I don't think that is correct.

Janice, the clinic doing the study in Austin is Texas Fertility Center. I'm not sure about exact costs yet, I should know more on Monday, but they told me it's $2000 plus you have to pay for your meds. I'll let you know what I find out on Monday!

I am doing the progesterone study in Dallas and I paid $1200 plus I paid for my follistim and menopur about $1700....my antibiotics, steroids, valium, and Lupron were covered and only cost about $20 all together ... the study pays for my progesterone and bcp

When do you ladies take your antibiotics? I heard some people taking them now but I think mine are for ER time is that right?

I had to take antibiotics at the beginning of the BCPs (as did DH) for about 10 days...now I'm on them again following ER for six days.

Paying for Meds~

Hey guys~
I started my Lupron on the 21st and CORM just sent them to me. They also told me that all of the meds except of course the antibiotics. I bet they made a mistake with who was supposed to be billed. Did you speak directly to Maryanne? Or just left her a message? Let me know, I am interested to find out, because if they go back on their word about the costs for this study, we are going to have some problems. Keep us updated on what you find out!

Thanks
Melanee

meds

the first set of papers i signed at corm said you would pay $500 for facility cost and $400 for anesthesia during er. when my husband and i met with her last week she gave me a paper that listed all the meds for the er that should total about $100. my pharmacy ordered them and i'm going to pick them up today. i'm assuming that now we only pay the $500 since we are getting our own meds for the er???? we have an appt saturday for the mock retrieval w/ dr schnell so hopefully we can find out what's going on..

Hi Janice,

I am on the PR study. I emailed MaryAnne and am waiting for some kind of response. How exciting we are on the same schedule! My ER is scheduled on my birthday - how crazy is that? Yes, the bill was for Lupron and stims and syringes, etc. Should I call the pharmacy back and tell them to contact MaryAnne? I told them that I would get back with them to hold off..and by reading some of the feedback, MA is pretty busy... I tried to call after hours and you can't access her extension to leave a message..grrr.
Another lady I am talking with was at there for 3 hrs yesterday only to have a 15 minute procedure... Her and her DH were livid ... I hope we all don't get treated like this....

Oh, MA gave me a sheet with meds that I had to get filled and when I got to the pharmacist, he said, "Oh, Dr Schnell lets us do generics." Ok so I kind of freaked cause when I got home I had to play a guessing game to match meds with the calendar sheet ( i color coded bottle to calendar sheet..)...

Here's the list: Diazepam ( 1 tab), Ondansetron (one injection liquid vial), Ceftriaxone (one injection powder vial) Prednisone (12 tabs - not sure what this is for), Doxycycline - for me and DH, and the BCP. Of course I didnt have to pay for the BCP's, but the rest came out to $99.01. When I go back on Saturday to meet with Dr Schnell, I need to find out what all this stuff is.
