Hi Mia! I hope you get the call soon too! I didn't realize when I first started this thread that the new trial would be in other places! Yes, the states and cities listed are all for the Progesterone trial. You can also do a search at Home - ClinicalTrials.gov and see if there are other trials near you too. You can do a search like "IVF and Ohio". HTH!

That was quick!! Good luck! Let us know! I think we should keep the list updated even if you aren't participating in Houston because it will be nice to know people going through similar protocols anyway!

I am sure that i sound like a dummy on the subject and i am but i was just wondering do all sperm have to be Cryopreservationed and storaged or is that only if you dont live close and can give a fresh sample.

Lorry, you can use fresh sperm if it works for you and your dh can give a sample the day of ER, I believe. I'm not sure if it is the day of but I think so. My dh's is cryopreserved so I'm not sure.

Also for the progesterone trial, the embryo cryopreservation os $600 and the administrative fees (not sure what this is for yet) are $500. As far as I can tell, these are the only fees for the trial. Your dh does have to be tested for HIV and hepatitis though. Most likely your insurance will cover those tests.

Mia23, it is all the same study.

Hi Kristen!

Lorry -

The cryopreservation and storage I was talking about in the fees was the embryo cryo/storage after you do the IVF induction. I hope I didn't say sperm storage...is that what you meant??

Thanks Janice for the info!!

LOL - I have a good book I can send you if you want to PM me...explains a LOT! I can't remember the name of it offhand though...Oh And no, since you live so close, your DH could do his part on the day of. UNLESS he has low sperm counts...then you might want to consider freezing some before hand "just in case". My DH has really low counts so we just sent him in the other day to get his boys frozen just in case we need them. But it's not required to do. HTH!

Well i got my call last night and dh and i talked long and hard about what we were doing and even though we were really excited we decided that we need to spend that $1100 on paying on the med bills we already owe. I feel like crying all over again. it was a little beacon of hope and it still isnt going to come true. They are suppose to set up my appointment today but i am just going to have to tell them i cant afford it. : ( I wish i would have gotten in to the one you did pasionscientist.Oh well I guess we will just have to start saving again.

I'm so sorry to hear that . Keep the faith, there may be other clinical trials and maybe you should go to the appointment anyway and see what your options are. They may work with you, you never know. It shouldn't cost anything to talk to her. My trail isn't completely free either, I still have to pay the cryopreservation and storage which will be around $600. When they call, just let them know the situation and see what they say... Saying some prayers for you!

Thank you so much for posting all this information on this study. I have called and left 3 messages and received two e-mails from Tamara to be patient on a call back. I live in the Kansas City area and so if I am accepted I will be traveling as well. I may look into the Austin site too! I am so excited and want a call back now! Have a great day ladies.

I just got a call from Maryann and I am waiting on the receptionist to call and schedule my appt around CD 2. That is going to be hard since I don't know when I will start. Oh well, I am so excited. I talked to the lady at the Dallas site and she said it is a $1200 charge and you have to pay for your meds. This is going to be a great journey. Thanks again ladies for the information this maybe the only way I will be able to do IVF.

Well I got a call back from my local clinic which is in Toledo. And she told me about the compensation and I dont know if it is different at each clinic or what but she told me it is a $4000 discount on the IVF procedure. The cost for IVF at their clinic is $8100, so I would still be paying $4100 + the cost of meds, ultrasounds, bloodwork, and office visits. So I would still be looking at $6000-$8000. I am going to contact the coordinators that were listed again and see if they can forward my info to other clinics. Does anybody know what is going on I even used the Clinincaltrials.gov study number? Is it just different compensation at different clinics? Is anyone else not using the Houston office and only paying $1100? If you have any info or advice please let me know. I am disappointed to say the least.
