Hi girls,
I haven't posted in a while. Congrats to the
and to the rest of us!!

I started my lupron today and I have the same cycle as Rose & Lua. Let me just tell you about the shots....I am the BIGGEST needle phobe in the world!! I put off having a cavity fixed for 2 years because I was scared of the shot. Well I gave myself the lupron shot this morning after building myself up for 30 minutes. Well I didn't even feel it, not even a little bit!! I am so glad it wasn't what I've been imagining. I do have a little red spot where it went in but still no pain. I hope the gonal f and menopur are this easy!!!

The pink book says absolutely no accupuncture! Or herbal remedies.

Congratulations!!! That is great!! And yes, the Gonal-F and Menopur have the same small needle. It just "looks" like it will hurt more because it has a thicker syringe, but the needle is the same so don't let it freak you out when you try to do it! I was wondering where you went too! I'll add you to the list!

Well, I had my appointment yesterday to meet Dr. Schnell and do some Lupron baselines. When I checked in the girls told me I was early for my appointment. I told them I knew that, but that since we have a long drive we have to leave early and that's just when we were able to get there. I asked them if they could go ahead and do my bloodwork and ultrasound while we waited for the doctor. They told me I didn't need either of those at this appointment. Imagine my surprise when five minutes later a nurse came to get me for bloodwork. From there we went to a room for...you got it, an ultrasound. I'm not joking when I say that they left us in that room for over an hour by the time everything was said and done. I actually took a little nap using my drape sheed like a blanket. I got the consents turned in, mock transfer done, and made my next appointment for the 2nd. I started the Lupron this morning. I'm looking forward to getting this show on the road already.

Congrats on starting and getting your Mock done and B/W too I've had a few appointments like that. Where you're there for one thing and they do 10 others LOL Or where they say "Okay, see ya next time" and you remind them that you haven't had an ultrasound and they go running to someone else asking if you're supposed to have one that day....and it always turns out yes LOL

I'm not sure if we'll be continuing the study or not. As I said in my previous post, when we signed on we spoke to one coordinator and she told us the cost and that it didn't include meds. Okay...good with that. Now the meds have went up by 500.00, they've added that the study doesn't cover this and that, we had to pay for male testing OOP and now this psychological visit nightmare. We drive 2 hours to and from the appointment and they refer you to psychologist at their end of town....so I found one locally and he quoted me 100.00 less....YAY I thought! Then today the nurse calls me back and says that it's between 300-500!!!! Ummm, that's more than he told me to being with!!! That's all of our gas budget for the trips to and from the RE's office My husband is completely against getting evaluated anymore LOL We went through the ringer when we went through our adoption....so I don't blame him but what choice do we have

I just don't get it...why do I have to be evaluated and why does it have to cost so much. I even went to a psychologist when I donated eggs and that won't count either

I don't see my husband coming around on this one. I don't know what to do at this point. I don't want to call the nurse at the RE's office and ask to get out of it...they'll think I'm crazy and trying to cover it up LOL But at the same time, I don't want to fuss with my husband about more money and more psychological visits.

I just don't understand why you have to do so much for this! Here in Houston, we don't have to do anything like that!! We don't have to pay for our meds (except for very few of them, maybe $100 worth) and no psychological evaluation or anything!! The cost is only $500 plus $600 if you have any embies left to freeze.

Not sure what they are charging you there, but maybe it will be cheaper to fly or drive somewhere else without all those headaches. I'm hoping that it will work out for you!!!

Hi IndieBlue,

I agree with Kristen, I don't know why you need to do it...
Did you try to find another clinic? Try to search, maybe it's better fly to there instead to solve all these problems.

I hope you find a best way to do it

Can anyone tell me what days you start taking BCP's? Today is Day 1 of my cycle, and I haven't been able to contact a nurse at my RE yet, so I just wanted to see what your schedule was to start them. Thanks!

Thanks ladies.....there are no other clinics in this area They are charging 3500 for the study, 3000 for meds, 300-500 for the psychological evaluation, all the pre-testing (which most of it my insurance should cover on me...but that would be another 1000.00+ I'm sure. Then they haven't billed us for the b/w and SA they did on my husband....I'm sure that's going to be 500.00 at least! We do get 1500 back at the end of the study, but again.....jumping through hoops is getting tiresome. I know I'm being whiny over 3-500.00 for the psychological when I'd already accepted all the other fees associated with the study, and I'm still getting out cheaper than paying for a full cycle OOP, but still....when none of this was mentioned prior to me signing the study consents it just seems unfair

I'm not sure what I'll do.....I really don't have much choice Thanks for listening to me gripe though LOL
