Hello! I am new to this board. We are enrolled in the study but waiting to start BCP's at one of the Michigan locations. I was wondering... did anyone call and get pricing in the Ohio locations? I'm paying about 5k plus meds... just wondering if the Ohio locations are cheaper... maybe I could transfer...

I'm cd21... hoping for AF so I can get the ball rolling.

My appointment isn't until 1:30, which I find odd since they tell you that all U/S and BW appts have to be first thing in the morning. Anyway, since it's such a long drive for us we try to get the day off from work and hang out in the area. Let me know and we can try to meet up.

Kristen, Hi!, Thanks for helping me Friday night! I was freaking out a little. I couldn't find the smaller needle...I gave myself the first dose on Friday and the second on Saturday of 75 menopur and 300iu of follistim, but on Saturday, the syringe had about 3-4ccs more fluid in it than on Saturday. I think I did something wrong...I lost some meds somewhere. I told the nurse about it, but she didn't seem to think it mattered much. I'm wondering if maybe that was why my E2 was low today...oh well, it won't be low for much longer. I'm trying to stay positive and go with the flow, but I'm such a worrier by nature.
Oh BTW, I Houston has been having good weather everytime I come down. Maybe I'm bringing the drier air in from Lubbocok??? I'll be back on Wed evening for a while if you want to do something; maybe Thursday lunch. I'll pm or email. Hope you're having a great day!

Hi everyone!

Ok, here's my update - my cyst went down significantly by Friday, but so did my estrogen which was ok. My E2 on Friday was 27. So I started on 300iu of follistim and 75 on menopur on Friday night. I did this for 2 night and then had bw done this morning. Well my E2 only went up to 57. They wanted it to be at least 3 digits. Dr. Schnell upped my follistim starting today; so now I take 150ius in the am and 225 with the menpur in the pm. I won't have another check until Thursday am. I hope everything is ok...

Hey Janice - I looked for you in the waiting area and only a blonde lady with short hair was in there so I must have missed you. bummer! They were busy, I had to wait a while to get my meds. I'm with you, I was so confused when I got ready to do stims, I forgot to use one needle. So I had my nurse friend run through it all for saturday night and I did ok. lots of mixing.... glad to hear your cyst has gone down.

I went this morning for b/w and waiting to hear back. The waiting area was packed at 7:00am.... glad I didn't take a later appt. I'll let ya'll know what I find out.

I'm not going to the TX center, but my RE's nurse did this during the shot class. She said you could actually use a little of the saline too, but you wouldn't need all of it of course. She changed needles somewhere in that process too LOL, I'll have to get her to show me again when I get to that point. She used a big needle to draw it all up, and then switched back to the little one to inject? I think LOL

I'm doing Gonal-F.
Honestly, I have to go back and look at my paperwork. I know that the Gonal-f is premeasured in a syringe and you have to mix it with the powder it comes with in that box so I am not looking at what the dose is. Then I add 1/2 cc of water to the Menopur. Then pull 225cc of Gonal-f and mix it with the Menopur. Then swap out needles and pull all meds from the Menopur bottle and inject. Ok was that confusing or what?? As far as the doses on everything - I will confirm tonight. I have to read my sheet step-by-step so I don't screw it up. It stays with the meds. It doesn't burn like I heard.

Janice - Yes, we mixed the meds like the other ladies said earlier. We took .75 - 1 cc of saline and injected into the Menopur, then we took all that and mixed it in with the Gonal-F. Melanee only had burning if she got some of the mix on the outside of the needle before injecting.

Looks like I'll be on Follistim as well...I kind of liked the Gonal-F. She said I could probably get the Pen for my morning shots and then do mixing for my evening shots. Probably best, me mixing things early in the morning is probably not the best idea in the world!!

I'm kind of sad today...Melanee and her DH are heading back to Utah tomorrow, they've been staying with us for almost three weeks! She's like my little sister and I just want to take care of her!! Sigh...BUT she will be back on Sunday for her beta appts next week...yippee! I love this board, without it, I wouldn't have met so many wonderful people!

I add about .25 of saline just to dilute it a little more to prevent the burning as much and then I inject. I stopped doing so much saline b/c it was a ton to inject and one of the nurses suggested it. It seems to work a little better for me to not have so much to inject! Please tell Melanee and Chris that I said good bye and good luck and I hope to see Melanee next week!

Jenifer, if you want, you can just mix the gonal f with the menopur powder without using the saline so you don't have so much to inject. Please let me know what your baseline E2 and your day 3 E2 are when you find out. Looks like your dose is 22iu of the gonal f and all of us are on 75 of Menopur (1 vial). Mine burns a little. Maybe I'm getting it on the outside of the needle. I'll have to work on that!

Well we got an email today letting us know that we don't qualify for the trial. She said they got my screening b/w back and I have an elevated TCH level. (Thyroid). Lee Ann said she called the trial coordinator and I am "screened out" and even if I could get the level down, I can't re-apply. How sad. I suppose this means I will go back to my old RE (as they are $2k cheaper) and see if I can start with my next or if I'm going to have to do anything else. Maybe I'll see some of ya'll on the June IVFers thread. I'll keep checking here to see how you are doing though.
