I'm excited about my appointment in the morning. I'm not excited about waking up so early in the morning to get there or having to rush back to my end of town to go to work, but the prospect has me truly excited. I already got my charts from my doctor up here that they asked me to bring and I had a copy from the old, bad doctor from last year. I'll let you know how it goes when I get the chance.

Does that sound about right? I mean I know all cycles vary a little but what is a basic schedule like?

Hey Marcia - If your schedule is like the one in Houston (and Janice can confirm), you will be on Lupron for about two weeks, then you will start the stims for about ten days. It looks like you are about two weeks behind me on your Lupron start, so you should do your ER two weeks after mine (which is on March 25). It may vary on the doctor though, so don't quote me on that! Tomeka, does that sound like your schedule??

Kristen, that's exactly the calendar they gave me. If and when I start AF, hopefully on March 21, I will start bcps and be on them for about 19 days. On April 11, I will start Lupron and then April 25, I'll start stims (Gonal F I think). I'll stim for roughly 10 days and then trigger around May 4 for ER on May 6 and then ET on May 11 (Mother's Day). This is only if AF cooperates with me...

Marcia, depending on the length of time you're on Lupron, I think Kristen's calculations are right. If you follow what the Houston office gives us, you'd start your Lupron on Mar 14, start stims on March 28, trigger around April 6, have ER on April 8 and then ET on April 13 with a beta around April 27.

Kristen looks like I am a day behind you I started Lupron on March 1. bcp 20 days, Lupron 10 units for 14 days, Luveris,Follistim and decrease Lupron to 5 units for 10 days, and retrieval week of March 24th thru March 31. Transfer 3rd or 5th day following retrieval. My MD likes to do 5day transfers, he says he gets better results. Hope everyone is doing well. Tomeka

Thanks for the schedule info.... according to my progesterone study info they will only allow you to be on BC fo 14 to 16 days I have seen a few people say like 19 and 20 days ...... I thought this was regulated by they study to make everyones treatment as much the same as possible? For those of you doing BC for 19 or 20 days are you doing this same study? Thanks!

yes it's the same study. From what the study coordinator told me, you could be on the bcps for 10-21 days depending on clinic and patient schedules. They do try to make everyone's treatments the same, but since this is primarily a study on the 2 types of progesterone helping keep a viable pregnancy, I think they are allowing some difference in individual protocols. From what they told me, they will be able to adjust the dosages of my stims depending on how I do on u/s and bw during stimming. I think they have to use the same drugs but not necessarily in the same amounts for each individual.

There are several of us on this thread that are seeing Dr. Schnell in Houston at the Center for Reproductive Medicine. Dr. Schnell's office is recruiting participants for an IVF clinical trial study. The IVF cycle ends up being almost free (comparitively speaking) if you get accepted into the study. Her staff are very nice and the facility is super nice. Good luck in making your decision!

Well gals, I was officially not accepted for this study. Their reasoning was that cardiovascular health is important to the study. I did reply to them and offered to get my cardiologist involved if need be to "allow" me to participate, but I doubt that will be acceptable.

Good luck to those of you participating.

Hi all,

Thank you very much for all answers! As I'm new in US and in Houston I'm feeling lost... and to find a doctor, specially when we need something like IVF it's not easy!
I'll call them to check how much it costs because I really need to do something as soon as possible.

Thank you all!!

Hi everyone! Looks like things are starting to pick up!!

Let's see... I'll try to get to everyone!

Stephanie - I'm sorry that you didn't get accepted in the trial. I hope they are able to figure something out with your cardiologist

Rose - good luck with your appointment today! let us know how it goes!!!

Lua - As Janice and others mentioned, a lot of us are going to CORM (The Center for Reproductive Medicine) and really like it there! Maybe you can get into the study so it won't be so expensive. I would try calling the study line and also making a regular appointment. Good luck!!

LRayon - CONGRATS ON YOUR !!!! That's awesome!! I was at CORM on Friday...wonder if we passed each other...LOL!

Sheila - The number for the study line at CORM is 281-557-5820 or 281-332-0073 ext. 220
You can also try calling the main office number and saying you'd like some information on the study. When asked to leave a message be sure to speak clearly and slowly so they get your phone and name to call you back!

Tomeka! Sounds like we are definitely on the same cycle! Woohoo! My ER is same week and my RE also likes 5 day ET!! I'm so glad to have someone on the exact same cycle! Good luck to you!!!

Janice - YOU ROCK!!! As always!!!

My appointment on Saturday went really well. I still have a couple things to do before I am "officially" accepted, but I have signed all the consent forms and stuff we just have to wait for AF to start so I can have my day three bloodwork done and then a more recent HSG test since mine was a few years ago. I am excited, but just wish AF would get here so I can move on and get the ball really rolling!

Well, I had my appointment this morning. Everything went pretty well I guess. Houston traffic is terrible even at 5am, just incase any of you had doubts. =) We filled out paperwork, signed consents, did urine and blood samples, complete pelvic and breast exam, ultrasound, and sono-histogram. It had been years since I had a sono-histogram, and it was just as uncomfortable as I remembered. Now I just wait for AF to show up again so I can do bloodwork. Do any of you have a hard time getting a person on the phone at the Webster office?
