A saline infusion sonogram (saline sonography) is routinely performed to make sure that the endometrial cavity (inside of the uterus) appears normal. Benign uterine growths, such as endometrial polyps or uterine fibroids, may develop in the cavity and create an environment that is hostile for implantation. Scar tissue may also be identified with the saline infusion sonogram. This procedure may be done as part of an evaluation for recurrent pregnancy loss or done prior to an IVF cycle. It may also be done to evaluate causes of irregular or very heavy menstrual cycles and some types of chronic pelvic pain. The saline infusion sonogram is scheduled early in a menstrual cycle, just after your period stops but before ovulation – usually between days 5-12 of the cycle.
The procedure is simple and usually takes 10 to 15 minutes to complete.

Thanks for the info. I've heard lots of women talk about them on here but I didn't know why they had them done. Good Luck with yours...........

Can you put starting stims on day 3 of cycle in April next to my name?

I am all confused as to which group people join...is it technically when you start your BCP's or your shots?

I am looking forward to chatting with all of you!

Cathy - I need to lose some weight also in the next month. Maybe we could be eliptical buddies! Are you doing it everyday? And for how long?

I gained so much weight during the last cycle. I guess that can happen on Lupron but then when I started the stims I was SO uncomfortable that I couldn't do anything. I would really like to lose some weight before that happens all over again!

Wow ladies! I am going to have to start checking the forum on the weekends. Sounds like we are all trying to get healthy again. I also started working out again. Does anyone know if water aerobics is bad? I thought Yoga was good but boy was I wrong.

Welcome all the new ladies. Can't wait for us to get started. Sounds like some of you already have.

Welcome to the April thread MissBish! It doesnt matter if we technically belong to March/April/May cycle, what matters is that we are among people who understand us and give us support when we need it the most.
Is the saline infusion like a hysteroscopy? I had one in mid Jan and I was put out for it. I believe that too was a 20-25 min procedure and they checked out the 'interiors' of my uterus and did minor 'repairs' . And also did a little endometrium biopsy. I guess they were quite satisfied and didnt do much of redecoration, just made it more 'airy' by opening slight tissue blockage of the right and left ostia (opening of the tubes into the uterus) Quite uneventful I must say!

I dont think its like that. Its more like a sonagraphy. If they find scar tissue or anything abnormal, thats when they do the procedure you are talking about. I had a D&C in January - so I think this is to make sure everything is in check.

Thank you for the warm welcome!!! I feel like since this is my 3rd cycle...it should be like 2nd nature...but it isn't. I now have the whole "fear" of having a m/c in the back of my mind.

BUT my main concern from now until then is to get healthy as well! I put on 20 pounds w/ all the fertility treatments, pregnancy, m/c, etc. Uggggh!!!

I have a question for you ladies, I think my DH finally gets my "obsession" about wanting a child. We were talking about it last night because he thinks that the forum is a good/bad thing. Good in the fact that I have things in common with you ladies but bad in the fact that he thinks I am obsessing over having a baby. When I finally told him that if he counted the # of months we have been trying for get PG, we would have 50 ! He FINALLY got it! Did you guys have a problem with DH getting it? I told my DH that it is maybe because he has 3 kids already and he just wants me to get PG so I can experience it but it is not a big deal to him.

My DH has wanted children since the day we got married. I was the one who put it off for a year. Now I look back and think I must have been crazy to wait.

Water aerobics is a great exercise. It will help tone your muscles and burn calories. I think we all are on the bandwagon for weightloss. It would be great if we could all keep each other accountable.

My DH definitely doesn't get it. I think for him that having kids has always been a 'would be nice' and 'will get around to it someday', where for me it's a 'one of the few things I must do in my life'. If it had been easy to get pregnant, DH would have been happy for it to happen, but now that it's been so awful and hard on me - on both of us, I think he'd prefer that we just forget all about it. That's not gonna happen though .. :/

My DH also thinks that forums are bad/good. He sees them as feeding into my 'obsession' when there's nothing more I can do about getting pregnant, but he understands that I want someone I can go on and on about details with.

kelly!

My DH really wants to have children. I can always tell by the look in his eyes when we talk about it...I saw how hurt he was when we found out I was not pregnant, but he stayed strong for me. He tells me that if we can't have children, we will be ok with just the two of us. I know he's right, but we are praying for a healthy baby since we both really want at least one child.

I'm on a bit of a different health plan for my pre-IVF time, though losing weight would be nice. I have bad IBS (irritable bowel syndrome) and the herbal supplements I'm on have done a great job normalizing my cycle, but have flared up my IBS. (Oh, and stress is killer on IBS too) I'm going off all the hormone-related supplements before my IVF. My IBS is currently mostly constipation (TMI) and my RE warned me that you want loose stools during the IVF course because your ovaries are greatly enlarged, crowding that area of the pelvis, and for comfort you don't want constipation. So my health goal is get my IBS better under control. That means eating better and exercising, so maybe weight loss will happen to
