Right, so the importance here is a fresh sperm load for DH - So yesterday we didn't BD, we dealt with it elsewise.

I know!! I was sooo upset for DH...he is super die-hard about UCLA Thanks for the recipes!! and I completely hear ya with dealing with it "elsewise"!! Honestly, the RE told us that DH needed to "empty" like 3 to 4 days prior to ER, and I had so much pressure down there due to my growing follies, that I was like "no way, that's gonna hurt!"... so I told him to go watch some porn...

I should be producing more follicles by now shouldn't I?

I should hear about my b/w later today but I'm not expecting anything positive......

Is it normal not to be producing more follicles on your day 4 check up?

Thanks,

I didn't even have more than 3 follies until they checked me again at day 7!! And guess what? I wound up with 11 beautiful eggs, so you will be fine!

Irena- that's great that you are progressing wonderfully! you are so close now!!

Cheryl-- why would you not freeze them? i'm all for "positive thinking", but wouldn't you rather have them as back up, just in case?

Cheryl,

My DH and I decided to freeze 8 embies. I don't know if there are specific reasons you and your DH do not or were not expecting to have some to freeze.

However, we are grateful that we did. the 1st IVF cycle didn't go as planned and now looking back I am glad I do not have to go through all the shots and retrieval again. It was hard on my body and really feel that this time around I will be a little less stressed and my body will be a lot stronger!

We decided that we want two kids. If we have more embies frozen after our two, we did decide to donate them. We've realized how hard it has been to conceive and realize that there are a lot of couples who simply cannot and decided to donate the rest of them when the time comes. If there are any left. It's a hard decision to make but we feel it's the best.

It's a decision you and DH have to make and your sister should hopefully respect your wishes!
Good Luck....

It's getting closer to our day!! I can't wait...

I survived my first ER!

Hey April Buddies,

I am home from my first ER and well it was not the worst thing ever. There has been some mild to moderate cramping but i was given tylenol by mouth after i awoke and then Toradol was put in my IV to help with the pain i was still feeling. Anyway i feel good other than some tenderness and i am just laying around to take it easy as ordered. I knew the pain was lessening in my ovaries when the mild pain from the Noveral sub q injection site returned. LOL.
But all is well and i am very happy that out of the 21 follies i had they retrieved 19 eggs. So now my prayers are that most of the eggs be correct, and that they fertilize, divide appropriately, test chromosomally normal, survice all the processes and well implant wonderfully. I have lots more positive thinking to emulate over the next few weeks as i await a date for ET. I am hoping for the best for us all and wish you all easy, pain free injections, procedures, ER, ET and 2WW. I just know we are all going to be okay and hopefully super pregnant soon.

Oh and i will definetly freeze any embryos that are perfect or balanced translocations. I can not see myself not freezing, not only to avoid the stimming, etc should round 2 be needed. But b/c i want more kids and even when i think i am done, well i may want one more. And frozen embryos are as successful as the age at the time concieved. So if i am 45 and have a few teenagers and want to experience the joys of another little blessing, then i will be happy i have that chance. and if i do not have any to freeze then or even if i do... i will probably adopt at some point. because there are so many babies, toddlers and teens in need of a forever home and well i want them too. As for the other poster who was going to donate her embryos... you are unselfishly wonderful and i admire you. And for the poster who chose not to freeze, while this is not personlly okay for me (b/c i will want more), it is understandable(cost wise and as a responsible person) and i hope you get a BFP.

Okay... thanks again to everyone for all your support and honesty regarding the ER process and I hope you are all doing great.

Gracie--congrats on being done with ER!! You are super lucky that they gave you Toradol via IV... they gave me no pain meds at all, which really did me in Hopefully your discomfort will go away quickly! 19 eggs! What an awesome number! I had 11 my first round, and they said that was a lot, so 19 is fantastic! I noticed you mentioned chromosomal testing? What's the purpose of having this done? Aren't you fairly young? Sorry--don't mean to be ignorant--just curious!

I'm sending your eggs lots of for good fertilization!

Definitely freeze then, if it's not too late. That gives you the most options in the future.

Just dropping in to say hello from Barbados! Looks like everyone is progressing well. Congrats to those who have great numbers on embryos and follicles! Very exciting and happy news. Barbados is beautiful but not what I expected - not very commercialized at all! The beaches are lovely though. I am pretty stressed out about my follicle numbers but I am hoping everything will work out okay. I wrote another post about that though.

Baby dust to everyone!

Sorry--don't mean to be ignorant--just curious!

I'm sending your eggs lots of for good fertilization!

Hey Isabel,

Yes I am young at 30 but I was diagnosed with a chromosomal abnormality called a balanced robertsonian translocation. Dont worry about the questions... that is how we all learn.
And if i didn't have family whose worries would affect me then i would share with them now. but i am choosing to wait to tell them until i have finished having kids as i cannot take the added stress of thier emotions to as such a hormonally emotional time. But i really hope to speak out about this publicly soon as most people have no clue and are unaware about themselves.
I had several miscarriages and found this out during my 3rd pregnany so i worried endlessly but have beautiful daughter that by God's grace has the normal 46 chromosomes. I have 45 as two had short arms that are non essential for life that broke off and the remaining halves united. So i look normal and suffer no problems other than reproduction. I unlike most of the wonderful women suffering infertiliy don't really have a feritlity problem in the sense that i easily concieve but unless my conception is a perfect one or a balnced one , well i will most likely miscarry and then there is the scary odds of me having a child with severe malformations that will die shortly after birth or survive into adulthood with multiple special needs. So i feel like an outsider as i intrude on your struggles that are somewhat more difficult than mine. at the same time i am blessed to be with you all ... as i sincerely believe we are all i n this together.
I wanted to ensure that i could avoid being faced with a fetal demise or severe malformations as best i can. My translocation is fairly normal but often most people have no idea they have it. I would say this is the reason for multiple miscarriages and for those families with a special needs child. I really wish that chromosome analysis was routine for all people. But then i guess some people prefer not to know. I am so thankful i do know and that my obgyn was so proactive in my diagnosis. While it is sad ... it just makes me more determined to end the grief of miscarriages with me. As i want the best for my babies. Since i have a balanced translocation it means that my eggs are as follows 16% chance of stillborn, 32% chance of miscarriage, 16% chance of baby with severe birth defects that dies shortly after birth or requires life long care, 16% chance of balanced translocation like me so no real issue but will have reproductive problems and then 16% chance of a perfect chromosome baby. So God graced me once with my angel and then this information and now i am taking the available option of pgd and hoping i did right by my faith. I recognise i will be discarding malformed embryos but this is more in line withmy morals than terminating a pregnancy that is trying to make it. I hope this info helps and thanks for the question. =) Now please no feeling sorry for me because i also feel i was given this burden as someone else may not have been able to carry it.
