Welcome! Welcome! I am starting Lupron on the 7th, but I don't stop BCP's until the 12th. So ready to get the show on the road. Patience wearing thin.

I had my general health exam with the nurse practitioner today. The exam itself was no big deal, but all the stuff around it with tests that need to be done and this apt and that apt and now I'm starting to get stressed! I've got my injection class on Thursday, and the NP wanted me to take a prolactin, CBC and TSH test but they didn't tell me I needed to fast, so I'll have to take those tests tomorrow morning and then start my BCP tomorrow. Then in the next week I need to schedule a baseline U/S, SHG and catheter check, and bring my DH in to sign consent forms and also he needs some last-minute cultures to check for bacteria. I also need to figure out the financing, since we're going with a program ... *stress*

For financing, we have to make a big decision. The program we're going with you pay upfront for what cycles you think you're going to need - but you don't get a refund for unused cycles! So we need to decide on one IVF+one FET cycle, two IVF+two FET cycles or three IVF+three FET cycles. How much do we want to gamble? Argh!

That does sound stressful. We went with a Shared Risk Program. It seemed to help put my DH's mind at ease about all the money. We did have to pay a hefty amount upfront. The way it works is we have 3 fresh cycles and 3 FET. If we get preo, it saves us $11000. If we don't leave the hospital with a live baby, then they reimburse us about 2/3 of what we paid upfront. At least that way we'd have money for another cycle. The financial aspect of all of this is so stressful. Good luck making your decision.

I know what you mean about the financial aspect of IVF. My insurance does not cover any of it. Thankfully our parents have helped us. We have our FET cycle and if that does not work, we may switch RE's and go somewhere that we can do the shared risk program. I'm kicking myself now for not doing the shared risk program right away. I just felt it would work the first time. If I only would have known....

jerseyjandi - Sounds like your RE has no bedside manners. The fact that you've already lost 110 pounds is great! From what I've read (and I also asked my RE) it doesn't matter if you are overweight. Let's face it...most Americans are overweight by some amount. I would just try to keep focusing on eating a healthy diet and do the best you can. I think 20 pounds in a month is not a reasonable amount of weight to lose...as a doctor your RE should know that. I've gone to WW too and they tell you that it's healthy to lose 1 to 2 pounds a week. Just keep up the good work and you will be fine! You have to treat yourself every now and then...so just get back on track.

If you are interested, I've joined the "Get Sexy by Summer" thread under the relationship category. Everyone there is trying to get healthy, lose weight, and be more active. Check it out sometime...

Lupron weight gain, other side effects?

Ladies, what are your experiences, if any, with Lupron? I have heard that it causes weight gain, moodiness, etc. I am just curious of what to expect, and how to deal with it.

Hi Ladybug029! I didn't know there was another Ladybug here

Jana - I think you asked the question about PUPO - Pregnant until proven otherwise. Not sure if you got that answered for you.

Jerseyjandj - Forget your RE. 110 lbs is awesome. When I was a part of WW I went with another lady and she lost over 120 lbs and she looks great. RE's don't really have great bedside manner. So are they saying that they won't do your cycle until you have lost this weight? I hope not.

Ladybug20601 - I took Lupron for 2 months prior to a surgery and you do gain weight but mostly water rentention. The worst I had of it were the hot flashes. Man they can be brutal!

Well ladies, hope everyone's Monday was awesome. Just took my 1st BCP. I hope I don't have all the side effects but I am so glad this cycle is started!

I did not gain weight or really have much moodiness with Lupron, but had the worst headaches 24hrs a day until the day I stopped the meds--oh yes, I had those hot flashes where you wake up in the middle of the night completely drenched-yuck!

Jennifer..............Wow! You are amazing. What a butthead that RE is. Losing weight is the hardest thing I've ever done. You keep your head up and don't let that RE's horrible personality get you down.

I get those all the time from my anti-depressants, so I guess I don't have to be worried about those. Pretty much if there's a bad reaction to be had to a med, I'll have it!

Hi all, I'm going to go ahead and join since the January thread was a lifesaver to me. I'm 99% sure we will be in the April IVFers. We have our first appt. at our new clinic on the next Monday. My last Dr. simply said I had to wait for and then I could start BCPs again. However, I'm going to ask about a no BCP cycle as well.

Good luck to everyone.

Tara.
