 Tara and Laticia!! Glad you are joining us because the April group is the golden group... in other words, we are ALL going to be pregnant soon!!! YAY!!Laticia- it looks like we're having almost the same transfer date which means we will have about the same due date! Prayingforbabies will be joining us too!

Questions for Newbie
This is my first time with IVF. For those of you that may remember my post earlier this week I was tinkering with India vs USA. Since I own my own business and would need to shut it down for 3 weeks or hire someone to keep it going, the USA route works out about 2k less than India, so it looks like I will start my first IVF cycle in April with my clinic here in the USA. I am currently waiting for AF which is due to start 3/29/08 then I will start BCP.
If you do not mind sharing, would you ladies share your decisions on the following: 1. Number of eggs you chose to implant and why? This is a big one for us. We are not sure how many we should try and the RE said it is a personal decision. If we only try 1 and it does not take I will feel like I should have done more, but if we go with 3 and all 3 take, my DH might bail on me - hehehe. 2. Genetic Testing - did any of you decide to have the geneic testing for diseases done? 3. Gender Selection - did any of you decide to implant a particular sex, like a girl and a boy so you might have both in one try in case this is your only successful IVF? Just curious. If you feel this is too personal, I apologize. I am just looking for a little insight and feedback on what others that have gone through or are getting ready to go through IVF. Happy Easter everyone! Met with nurse today to get the exact dates for my protocol, so updated that below. Then this afternoon all my meds arrived (they are shipped from a pharmacy in Chicago). I started to unpack it all and just started crying because this is all so overwhelming, so many drugs, it's just so depressing! I am on BCP right now and if I am this emotional now I can't wait to see how I will be once I start taking all my medications!!! My DH deserves a medal also for being so supportive, he even dusted the house today while I took a nap!!! That was amazing!!! Well, ladies, we are on our way and I hope we all get BFP in April/beginning May!!!

Hi Holly I had the call from the pharmacy today saying they'd be shipping my meds on Monday. Just let me say first, THANK GOD for my DH's insurance. The lady said to me, "we had to add shipping insurance because of the amount in the box." I was like OK how much is it all together she said, "$8,000." I was like holy crap. I had to pay $189.00 of that. UGHHH so frustrating for those of you paying out of pocket for everything. There is NO way we could do this without the great insurance my DH has. Our total lifetime max for IVF is $20,000 and meds do not come out of that amount. We've used $5088 so far not including the upcoming cycle. Hoping we don't have to do this again but we'll have enough for another try.  to you all and praying we all are blessed this time around.cathy

Hi All....I am feeling much more like myself today ....Dr. appt went great my E2 level was 25 (needs to be under 60 they said) so all is a go... I start stims (Follistim & Menopur) tomorrow night.....any advice, stories, or symptoms to watch out for with those meds or just more of the same? I just realized today how close April is and my est. retrieval day is on the 3rd!!

Cathyh - I know what you mean about the insurance. I haven't received the bill yet, for some reason they send it separately, but I ended up paying $125 in copays, so I can just imagine what the entire bill is!!! Wow!! I am grateful for my awesome insurance also, I have 100% coverage with $1 million limit, but only allowed 4 IVF cycles out of that money, it's a state law I heard. It's amazing how insurance plays an important role in our lives. I am debating working in another school district, just went on first interview yesterday. But I told DH yesterday I will need to check out their insurance coverage first before I even consider accepting the position...and if they don't have as good IF coverage there is no way I am leaving my current job! Which is crazy because the job would give us about $400-$500 more in our take-home each month, but I told him that is not even worth it if we have to pay for IF treatment out of pocket!!! all newbies. Our list is gowing! As for the IVF meds, I actually think IVF med companies charge more to the insurance (for those that have insurance). My total amount of meds is $1500-$3000. I am not totally sure yet because I have not gotten mine ordered. That will come next Tuesday (YIPPEE) but I must say, it would be nice to only have to pay $125 for a copay .MidsouthREI - Answers to your questions: 1. Number of eggs you chose to implant and why? My RE will put 2 5 days blastocysts unless the quality isn't good and he may suggest something different. 2. Genetic Testing - did any of you decide to have the geneic testing for diseases done? No. 3. Gender Selection - did any of you decide to implant a particular sex, like a girl and a boy so you might have both in one try in case this is your only successful IVF? ER u/s (spotting) 6/4 - Measuring 10 W 2 D - H.R. 174 BPM 2nd OB appt. 6/26 - H.R. of 161/164 BPM OB appt 7/29 - Bloodwork; H.R. of 156 BPM Level II u/s - August 21st.It's a Girl! 9/18 - Everything looks good 10/16 GT test - passed. Low iron and low lying placenta. 10/30 Things look great. Blood draw to check on iron. 11/13 - u/s...still low lying placenta. Everything looks good. Need to watch babies abdomen.
