Hoping to join the April IVF. I've been posting on the March IVF thread, but I don't actually have my ER until 4/3 and so on. I'm very eager to get the show on the road. It feels like I've been waiting for so long to start, but I had to recover from surgery first. We didn't plan on telling anyone about having to do IVF, but when the surgery came up, we felt our family needed to know. We've asked them not to ask questions about it unless we bring it up. I just don't want to feel obligated to give info if I don't want to. So our family knows about it, but they don't know when we are starting the process or anything.

ladies! I can't wait to get started either but I have a question? When are you actually supposed to start BCP? Is it right when you get or do they start like the Sunday after AF is done? The reason I ask is b/c we have our IVF consult next Wednesday and AF is so regular for me that she is due on Monday which makes me exactly on Cycle day 3 which is when I heard they want to run your b/w and everything. I am hoping to start that night but I guess it depends on the RE. For those that have their schedule, what is yours like? I am just so anxious that I don't want to have to wait another month to get AF before starting BCP (if you can believe that I am excited to start those . Have not been on them for years and last time I was on them (dreaded patch) I was passing clots the size of golf balls (sorry TMI) ).

Hopeful, I don't know how everyone else is, but I've been on BCP since first of Jan because of a cyst and surgery. They just had me stop them on the 16 and then I restart them tonight so I'm no help. They do tend to do bloodwork on day 2, 3, or 4. If you are worried about it, call the office and ask to leave a message for the IVF nurse. Every protocol is so different. I don't have to plan anything around the witch. I'm sure the other ladies will have more info for you. Good Luck!!

I am starting my BCPs the sunday after AF just like you normally would. They are not doing Day 3 bloodwork on me since Im doing IVF - my bloodwork will come in a couple of weeks before stims. The nurse said they like you to be on BCP no less than 2 weeks and no more than 7 weeks. It looks like I will be on them about 4 weeks.
All REs are different though. I have my IVF detailed appt on feb 28th so I will know more then. APRIL!![]()

I told my MIL that we were TTC this Christmas. DH wasn't happy that I told her since "There's nothing to tell" but maybe that I've been sick for most of the last two years and not laying about, eating bonbons? I've told a couple of people that we're doing IVF, though DH wants me not to tell anyone. *rolls eyes*

Thanks ladies for the response. My RE's office told us to expect about 2-3 hour appointment. They told us that they are going to do a mock t/t, give us instructions on our meds and give us a schedule. The next appt. for the RE that was available was at the end of March so his cycles must go monthly. Thanks for the input. I am hopeful we will get in this cycle.
As for telling others, I told my 2 best friends & my parents & sisters. I was going to keep it to ourselves but I needed people to be praying for us and with us. I am also going to tell 2 ladies at church because they are very strong in prayer and I need their guidance. I also told another lady I used to work with that went through IVF and she has been a godsend. However, she does not remember much about her process cause it was almost 3 years ago but I am using the same clinic she used. She just had a different RE.

I don't know if my DH cares one way or the other if we tell people, but we elect not to because we don't want all the questions. Does your DH have MF? I think for most men with MF, they want to keep it secret because it's embarassing....make's them feel less of a man. I'm no shrink, but I know when they thought it was my husband, he was very uncomfortable with anyone knowing. Since it turned out to be me he's respectful of whatever I want to do. Although it maybe hard, try to respect your husband's feelings for privacy. It will make him feel better to know you understand how he feels.

Jana, I completely agree with your analogy on DH's.
Sorry to get off the subject but who are you guys ordering your meds through? (is this against the rules on the forum?) I have been looking on the internet for pharmacies and have gone through IVPcare for meds so far but I was wondering if you guys have found anyone cheaper?

I have only picked up my dexamethosone and Lupron right now. I got those at Costco. Are insurance isn't helping at all, and those prescriptions cost be about $5. The others I'm not sure of yet. I got to the RE on 3/19 and she said we'd order them then. I'll find the name out and let you know, so you can check them.

Lupron for $5? That is amazing! I was just telling the people at my work this morning that when I took Lupron back in Sept. prior to my surgery, they charged my insurance over $650. My portion was on $49 (thank God).

Hi girls,
We did not want to tell everybody about our IVF either, we told a select few. I agree with those of you that do not want to get all of the questions-especially "are you preg yet?" And since our first try ended in a chemical preg in January, it did make it easier for us not to have to explain to everyone over and over why it did not happen. IF is so hard emotionally. for BFPs for all of us!

I'm hoping that my insurance will cover a lot of the meds and the procedures, too. They're supposed to have excellent benefits - my husband is actually staying at a job he doesn't really like because of the medical benefits! On tuesday before my IVF consult, I have an appointment with the clinic's financial coordinator. *nerves* It blows my mind that the clinic with six physicians has two full-time financial coordinators!
