New to April Thread

Hello Ladies!

I just received my calendar on Thursday when finally showed up. (The one time I wanted AF to hurry up and get here, she was several days late. Wouldn't you know it!)

DH and I are doing IVF#2. Our first attempt ended in a Chemical Preg. I really haven't posted since that, as I needed a down period while trying to decide if we would go for it again. Everything we do regarding IVF and the meds associated (except the antibiotics, prednisone, etc.) is out of pocket and ran about $15K the first time. My RE's group is the only one in town who does IVF and he does not do Shared Risk or anything like that so cost was a big factor for us. This time it just has to work!

As things are now, it looks like ER/ET will be the week of 3/31. May I join you ladies in the April thread?

Maybe April

I will most likely be joining you in my 4th IVF attempt, but this time it will be with donor eggs.
We had our second opinion consult yesterday. The youngish female doc told us that she thought she might try one more round of IVF with my own eggs using the Lupron microdose flare protocol, since I am under 38. That is of course, she said if time/emotional resources aren't a factor. She also felt that donor eggs are an excellent option.

Since we are anxious to start our family, DH and I are going to proceed with DE with my sister as donor. We have our recipient consult this week on Thursday, and after that, my sister will have her consult and screening. All four of us (me, DH, sis, and her DH) are scheduled to meet with a counselor in late March. DH and I meet with her first, then sis and her DH on their own, and then all four of us. After that, we are hoping to start the cycle in late March/early April.

everyone!!!

I work at a hospital and we have really good insurance except when it comes to infertility treatment. They will cover the testing to find out if you are infertile, then if you are it's up to you to pay for everything. It's very upsetting and not fair! We too are paying for almost everything out of pocket. Our insurance will pay for the antibiotics and I think they paid for the progesterone.

I got my meds through Schraft pharmacy. I didn't check around, but my RE recommended them and said they are the cheapest pharmacy. They deliver the next day free of charge...You pay $10.00 a year for VIP membership...includes big discounts on the meds and free overnight shipping through the week.

Med costs

Ladybug, I understand your pain about the cost of meds. Last cycle when all was done and said, we spent $3,200 for out of pocket for meds.

My RE uses Freedom Pharmacy. I called Schafts before I purchased meds the first time and they were a little cheaper on some things but a lot higher on the costliest of my meds, the Gonal-F. It wouldn't hurt calling Freedom Pharm just to ask.

... I am a bargain shopper by nature and unfortunately, there aren't many bargains out there when it comes to infertility unless you are a lucky one that has fertility included in your insurance. Tennessee is not a mandated state and most policies considered "good" only pay for diagnosis testing.

Yeah, it is a crazy drug. My RE calls it 'a huge hammer' but it works a lot of times and it's cheap ... With the IVF I should be on FSH only and will be kept close watch over by people. Hopefully the FSH will just make me feel sick.

I think that's really cool, too! For a lot of reasons that's got to be a positive - you'll know her family history if nothing else. Has your sister had children of her own?

Wink making changes b/f next IVF

Hi all

Well I started my lifestyle changes today for our next cycle which we are hoping will be April. I have an appt. March 12th.

I did the eliptical machine for 20 minutes, documenting meals to stay under 1700 calories a day. I'm hoping to have 10% of my body weight lost before next stim cycle.

I'm over the upset of the failure of IVF 1 and looking forward to IVF 2.

Good luck to everyone

Cathy
