My dh gave me my first Lupron shot last night. I gave him the long speech about how to do it. Making sure the alcohol is dry, pinch the skin. I am sure I have driven him past the edge, but it is my tummy getting stabbed. lol

Congrats on starting Lupron. I can't wait to start next Thursday. I like to give myself the shots except for PIO. You are on your way to a and thanks for keeping up with everyone.

Just a quick question are you going through the speciality pharmacy with Caremark? The regular pharmacy never has answers but when I ask for the fertility speciality pharmacy I get answers and action. PM if you need their direct line. Tracy

Yes, their customer service sucks. I ended up talking to 10 people in total. I think you just have to be on them big time. My nurse said she had dealt with them before so I guess it's just red tape but come on, just send the freakin meds out. It is better to deal with the infertility dept I found too.

The meds problems..... I have to use progesterone supplements and the first time I got them it was fine. The second time there was a mix up and I thought "OK I ordered a little early just in case" but there was another mix up and then they had me on the phone with them very annoyed and fighting hysteria. That got action.

Yes gotta love the dh's. Mine does things like this too - I'm curious to see how he approaches the whole IVF process. He usually goes in to project mode with important things so we'll see.

Good Afternoon Ladies!!!

Quick question: Are any of you doing acupuncture during this process??

I was researching the increased chances of success by doing accupuncture during the IVF process.

Thanks for the help!

Our site is so busy!!! So many BFP to look forward to.

Hopeful mama--Welcome!! we did PGD on our first IVF due to a study we were participating in. Onlythe PGD was free. We only had 1 chromosomally normal embryo out of 6. It is $2500 out of pocket at our clinic. I would consider doing it if they can identify chromosomally normal embryo's for you. There are pros and cons so I would definitely discuss this far in advance with RE vs at a later date when you get emotional. It depends also on embryo quality on day 3 when they biopsy.

Lindsay--PIO vs supp. We did PIO for both IVFs before. My second we used Progesterone in ethyl oleate which is not as thick and much easier to tolerate. It is the consistency of water vs honey. Ask your RE for it. I would recommend it to everyone. It is not any more $$ than the regular Progesterone.

Shasta--Your belly gets a little sore if you do all your inj there including Lupron daily and then potentially twice daily stims. You could use the back of your arm also. i am trying to alternate sites this cycle.

Girlymech--Congratulations on starting stims. You're almost at ER..It's around the corner.

Hardybaby "tracy"

Josephine--I know how you feel about being a little more laid back this cycle. My first Iwas a freak about everything and the stress was too much. Having done it before it is easier to relax knowing how the process works and knowing what to expect. we are on day 4 of Lupron. The only thing that may come down to causing a breakdown is some special projects I am working on during May. Trying to coordinate ER and ET may be stressful but that's why I have great women like you cheering me on. Also thanks for keeping up with everyone's stats.

For those of you of LUpron, is everyone feeling a little pressure in their pelvis? Seems like a lot going on down there. This part I have forgoten. I know AF will come sometime in the next week.

I am dreading the 2ww most of all. Its totally weird how not stressed I am about the injections. The strange thing I have found about the IVF process is no matter how many times you go through it every time is different.
I am sitting at my desk ( not working ) just counting the minutes until I can leave 1 1/2 hours to go.

acupuncture

I haven't done acupuncture, I don't plan to do it for this cycle either. Honestly, I didn't want another appointment to have to run to!

My RE seemed to think the best it could give me is a placebo effect and some stress relief. But she said if it was stressful for me to get to another appointment (I live in Atlanta, which = TRAFFIC), it probably wouldn't be beneficial.

Audra, my symptoms of endo are EXTREMELY painful episodes of abdominal cramping, with bloating/gas, etc. From what my RE has explained, the symptoms can be symptomless.....that some people with Stage IV endo do not have any symptoms.

We are not planning to do any genetic testing.
