My DH's insurance fully covers 3 cycles of IVF, but only through the end of this year. The only condition on our IVF rider is that the provider must be a member of SART (Society of Assistive Reproductive Technologies). Before we started IVF, I talked to the financial person at the hospital clinic where we were going, and she said it wasn't a problem, they were a member of SART. So, we were good to go. We were happy because we really like the clinic, and had done so many test through them already. We did IVF #1, and paid over $7000 up front because they require it, but we would get reimbursed when the insurance came through.

Now, I'm starting to get rejections from the insurance company because the provider isn't a member of SART. Talked to the financial person again, she assured me they were. Did more digging. Found out it wasn't the clinic's bills that were a problem. The problem is the two doctors who don't bill through the hospital! Those doctors don't appear to be member of SART, so my insurance won't cover the almost $3000 of their charges.

At no point during this did anyone tell me that we would be seeing doctors who weren't billed out through the hospital. And, I was told at least twice beforehand that the SART membership wasn't an issue, and this outside billing was NEVER mentioned! If we knew this was a problem we would have gone elsewhere.

I'm waiting for a call back from the financial person now, but it's late in their day, so I don't know if I'll hear. What makes me even angrier is that we're in process of doing a FET cycle, and don't know if we stop now or what to do.

I'm so sorry you are having to go through this. Its not like there arn't enough issues for us to stress about. Sending you positive thoughts. Tracy

I was completely shocked. 11 months ago, at my first clinic, I was at 8. Has anyone else here gone through such a radical change?

I had to wait until the end of the day to talk to the RE, fighting back tears. He did a good job of reassuring me and wants to go ahead. He says 1) that we should proceed as no one's eggs improve with age; 2) it is a good thing I am doing IVF, and 3) that it only changes my success stats by 6%. I am trying really hard to believe him. I guess this is the rollercoaster of IVF.

Kris, I am new to this, so I don't know have anything to compare mine, too.....and I haven't started my cycle yet. But, I just wanted to let you know that I am sorry that you have one more worry - do your best to believe in your RE and know that we're all here for you!!!!!!! Keep us updated!

Just an update on me. Saw my RE today and my left ovary has moved to the right spot. It normally hangs out behind my uterus. Most cycles it has moved into the right spot for the ER but last cycle it stayed behind and RE had to go through my uterus (ugghh it was a horrible recovery) to retrieve and still couldn't retrieve all the eggs! Anyway, it moved into the right spot, yay! My E2 was 1533, still around 25 Follies and I start Ganirelix tonight. I go back tomorrow for bloodwork and another U/S and B/W appointment Friday. I will know more Friday if my ER is moved up to Sunday instead of Monday. Will let you all know!

Jennifer ~ Wow! That's wonderful news for you! I'll be for you!!!

migmel ~ My AP specializes in fertility and he recommended at least weekly visits 1 month prior to ET, and then on the day of the ET - he will do a session prior to and after (that, of course, is more $$). I haven't asked about during 2ww......just thought about that! hope this helps!

Karla ~ That's great! I'm glad you had a good experience, I think the consultation was the most difficult for me, because I just wanted to get started! Not talk about IF, I've told that story a 100x ~ but my APist is easy to talk to, too, and he was really focused on staying positive, and letting go of stress (I am still working on that one! ;-) AF visits you soon!!!!!!

Hey everyone, that's funny that Karla mentioned herbs! I was just thinking of posting a ? to see of those of us doing AP, whose APist is also recommending herbs????? Mine has not either, but I've saw on other threads where girls are buying lots of herbs.......very interesting, and I'm curious, anyone doing AP + herbs recommended by APist????

You guys are too funny! I love this thread!

So........here's my 2 cents.......I've been doing so well the past 6 mos on the "healthy diet" too!!! But in the last few wks have totally craved ice cream et al! I found a semi-healthy one (is that even possible!?!?) ......try Edy's slow churn sugar free! They have lots of flavors and it's sugar free, made with splenda!!! My fave is the neopolitan (sp?) - the one with strawberry, chocolate, vanilla - a little of it all! Oh, so sinful!

BTW, thanks Elizabeth for getting us off IF for awhile!!!! It's nice to take a break, and chat about something else! Especially, ice cream!

Hi girlies,

So it's official...I started stimming today! And yes, Karla, I did the Lupron in my thigh, and it was ok. Didn't hurt a bit! Time for the ovaries to wake up and do their thing!

Emilysmom - That is cool that you were able to find lidocaine OTC! It must be available, just not at my Target. Cool!

Linz - It sounds like you are really enjoying the home photography business. It's going to be great with a baby since it's so flexible! You do have a busy spring lined up for sure. I myself am an RN, though I'm taking a break right now for IVF. I feel very lucky to be able to do that and hope the stress-free situation helps! What does everyone else do for work?

Tfitz - Wow, what a billing nightmare. You've had such a tough time with that, and right in the middle of the cycle too! I hope you can resolve this ASAP so you can get on with feeling positive during this cycle. Thinking of you!

Migmel - Charlie horses are the worst! I haven't had any while on Lupron yet . Hopefully that will be last ones for awhile.

Stephaniellll- Good luck on the HSG tomorrow! We'll be waiting to hear how it goes!

Tracy, that sounds like a really interesting job. I'm sure you deal with all kinds!

Fav ice cream? Oh, easy...chocolate brownie...or coffee (Starbucks Mudpie - OMG!)...or peach... Man, I've got to go get some!
