Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process! Sometimes it takes multiple tries and you have to try to prepare yourself for it. I was convinced that it would only take us 1 cycle. Boy was I wrong! If you have 2 failed cycles, do not be scared of consulting new RE’s. We stayed too long with a RE that did not believe in PGD. I believe that we would have been pregnant much earlier if we had switched. I also believe that 5 days of bedrest on my last cycle (the one that worked) played a part in why I got pregnant this time. Rest and take it easy no matter who says it doesn’t matter. Don’t focus on everyone else’s symptoms! This cycle and now pregnancy has taught me that in a big way. I believed that it didn’t work because my boobs weren’t sore and I wasn’t “feeling” any pregnancy symptoms. Again, I was wrong! I am now almost 9 weeks pregnant and symptoms come and go daily. Trust in your RE and don’t get hung up on what other people are experiencing. Everyone is different!

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process! A calendar for the process. My RE hands out a sheet with the next step. While this might work well when your doing traditional IVF, it isn't great when you're doing DE. I only went in once a week so instructions were often given over the phone while I was at work.

I also wish that I knew how few donors were available though our RE's office. It was really hard to pick from 3 or 4 people.

* IVF is not physically bad at all. It is emotionally challenging though!

How long TTC: Actually found out we were infertile BEFORE we tried to conceive. Found out in 2005 that my tubes were blocked. Didn't TTC until 2008 with our first and only IVF
Diagnosis or any known issues: Blocked tubes on both sides
Treatments you tried before IVF: None. My tubes were removed to alleviate the issues with embryo toxic fluids dripping into the uterus due to the blockages.
How many IVF did you do before success: This was our first and only try
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: Nope
Protocol (meds taken): Lupron, Follistim, Ovidril
How many follicles at ER: 7
How many eggs retrieved: 7
How many eggs fertilized: 5
How many days between ER and ET: 3
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: One good one, the rest were lagging a little in development.
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Nothing, really.
What day you got your BFP: 9dp3dt I received a faint line on an HPT. 12p3dt I received a positive blood test
HPT before blood test: yep, see above
Number of first beta: 186
Number of babies: 1 perfect little girl
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process! To have faith that this can work on the first and only try. I had convinced myself that I would need multiple tries. It took one. I had NO embryos left to freeze and only the one 'took'. That's all we needed. One sweet and perfect little baby.

How long TTC: 2 1/2 years
Diagnosis or any known issues: Male Factor
Treatments you tried before IVF: None, DH counts were too low.
How many IVF did you do before success: One failed, our 2nd worked!
Are you using donor eggs or sperm: No
Protocol (meds taken): ,BCP's, Bravelle, Menopur, Ganirelix, Ovidril, PIO, Endomitrin
How many follicles at ER: 10
How many eggs retrieved: 13
How many eggs fertilized: 6
How many days between ER and ET: 3
How many and quality/rating of embryos/blasts transferred: 2 great 6 cell and 1 great 8 cell = 3!
Symptoms or issues during 2WW: Some cramping and pulling.
What day you got your BFP: 9dp3dt I received a faint line on an HPT. 12p3dt I received a low positive beta
HPT before blood test: yes
Number of first beta: 43
Number of babies: 1
Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process! That numbers mean nothing. All my results were wacky from my E2 to my beta and my progesterone. It is not worth stressing over. What we need is support to get us through and keep us positive...that makes all the difference.

Anything else you would have wanted to know before you started this process! I went into the process blind by choice (I did not get on any chat boards or do any research online). I stayed very positive throughout because I did not know what 'good' numbers were, etc.

It is so worth it in the long run, don't give up unless you have to. It was only a couple of months ago and I've already forgotten most of it. If I hadn't written the above numbers down I would have not know them! Life does go on successful or not, try to focus on some of the awesome things you could do in life, children or not but stay positive too. In other words trick your mind in any way you can to not have this process consume you. Find your happy place & hole up there until you get through it!
