Well, I got bad news today at the RE. My other previous FSH levels were 7, 8, 9 -- so always under 10. Now that I am finally doing IVF my CD3 FSH was 11.6. Of course, being hyped up on hormones, I started crying right away. RE felt really bad and even gave me a hug. I am just so bummed. The minute I let myself feel hopeful, I get kicked in the head.

So, I get back in my car and want to vent, but of course no one else really understands what FSH is except you ladies. I call DH and have to explain what it is before he can understand why I am upset. And of course, his first reaction is, can we get our money back. Ugh!!!!!

i know this is not going to make you feel any better, but we did an IVF with FSH of 12.6 and were successful!

11.6 is a little high but should not stop you from doing your cycle. What did your RE suggest? I think with the right amount of meds you should be fine, it only takes one good egg to produce a perfect baby!!!

The RE said that I was already on the right dose of medication. If I wasn't already on 225 of Gonal-F and 225 of Menopur, he would have increased it. I go tomorrow for first u/s and b/w to see how I have responded to the meds.

I guess it's good we started out at a high dose. He based that decision on my response to the meds with my old RE for the 4 failed IUIs.

My FSH was 10 when we did our IVF cycel, but before that it was 18!! I was placed on the most aggressive treatment and I am happy (cautiously happy) to say that I got my BFP! It is possible!

Hang in there Missy! I know it's hard not hearing the news you want, but the other ladies seem to have had success with high FSH levels, so keep your chin up and I'll pray you get good follies!!!

I know somone with a 19.6 fsh and did injectables and and have twins now!!

you can definitely work with 11.6. FSH bounces around. most of mine have been 8-10 but I had one that was 12.9. Hang in there!

I agree with what everyone else has said. High FSH is not a death sentence. You should read a book called "Inconceivable" by Julia Indochiva. She writes about her own struggle with high FSH (hers was 49), and how she lowered it and eventually got pregnant naturally. It's a great book and I think her FSH was 26 or something like that when she conceived.

Sorry to hear about your FSH - but I think you should have plenty of hope as there are lots of success stories w/high FSH. When I had my FSH done for the first time 8 wks ago it was 13.3 and I was absolutely devastated. But my RE said that we had a 43% chance of our IVF cycle working, and though that may not be 50/50 - I think w/a high FSH (and it's higher than yours!) that it's pretty darn good! And today, I had my ER and they retrieved 9 eggs! DO NOT LOSE HOPE. Don't spend your wonderful energy that way. Focus on the positive - your FSH could have been a heck of a lot higher! Chin up - I'll be thinking about you and sending positive energy and lots of warmth your way

i know how you are feeling. i have a high FSH (12.9) too but my doctor is not concerned at all. i was upset for a few weeks but started focusing on positive things.

I don't know if this helps raise your hopes at all, but I was in the same situation. When we first did our infertility testing my FSH was 12 which was concerning enough. When we did the pre-tests for IVF 6 months later it had raised to 18 and I was totally freaked out.

We are just finishing up our first attempt at IVF on the Lupron/max Follistim protocol and although we didn't get a ton of eggs, the ones that we got were good quality. We had 5 follicles, they retrieved 4 eggs, and 2 lived until day 5 to transfer(one of which was Grad 4AA). So I think as long as you still respond reasonably well to the medicine I wouldn't get too worked up over it at this point.
