Sure Jennieves. My first ivf was "textbook" per RE everything went perfect. The injections were not nearly as bad as I thought they were going to be. The only side effects I had were a little moodiness and BLOATING! The bloating was bad. I had to wear my "fat clothes". The emotional ups and downs were the absolute worst part of the whole experience. The waiting to get started and the tww at the end took forever.

Thanks. So...It just did not work. I am sorry to hear that. I read recently to "expect it to take 3 times" and that there is a general 70% success rate if we do it 3 times. So therefore, prepare for the worst hope for the best. I think that will help me to cope better if it does not work the first time. I am cautiously hopeful. All of us fertility challenged have learned that lesson a time or two.

Good luck! Keep us posted.

Hi ladies of August!
I don't know how your RE's work, but mine has 2 offices 4 hours apart, so he is only in "my" office for 2 weeks of the month. So basically they make my cycle work out for his schedule. I assume by prolonging or cutting BCP short. His 2 weeks in Aug are the first 2 weeks, so it sounds like I might be one of the early ones too. I'll have my ER/ET sometime between Aug 4th and the 15th.

I feel embarrassed to even type this, but I just had a lap surgery and I was on BCP up until the surgery, so the day of the lap, I didn't take one, and of course had a period. They did an HSG, D&C, removed some endo... etc. Now I'm still waiting for AF. Tomorrow will be CD28. I haven't had a cycle this long in like a year and a half. I keep thinking I'm having weird things going on with my body.... I'm afraid just typing this will jinx myself!!!!!! So no, I haven't POAS... I'm just waiting for AF to show and the bomb to drop! lol....

It make sense....it seems like if you have better quality embryos they want to wait to pick the best 2 or 3....so when transfering at day five you have already had a better "pool" to choose from....that was interesting.

blastocysts

Yeah, everything I have read says that day 5 blastocysts have a better chance of implanting. Good to know! I am not sure if all RE use this method. But research says its the best way.

Go blasts
Good luck ladies and positive thoughts

Where did you get the chart?? My RE does ET on day 3 but I know of another RE that does it on day 5. I was concerned I should have switched to the day 5 RE but I have been with my current RE since Oct. and I am generally happy with his practice (as happy as I can be) so I really didn't want to change.

If the % rate is higher in the 5 day why wouldn't all RE do it??????? There has to be a very good reason.

well I was told that i most cases that they will do the ET on day 3 only if they look like they will not make it to day 5 or they look so good that there is no reason to wait !!

Oh here is the site it has all kinds of good info for us IVF'ers

hey here is an artical about the embro glue is not the one I was looking for but it will do for now !!

Embryo Glue
Dr. Andrew Weston, Follas embryologist and lab director, is pleased to offer our patients a new product to help increase the likelihood of embryo implantation. Embryo Glue, a protein solution manufactured by Vitrolife, closely resembles the environment in the uterus at the time of implantation. It is not glue in the true sense, but acts as a bridge between the embryo and the uterus. The hyaluronan in Embryo Glue improves the communication between the embryo and the uterine wall to minimize embryo drifting after transfer. Early studies indicate that Embryo Glue may improve the implantation rate up to 34%! Dr. McLaughlin may recommend this option to you to enhance the likelihood that you will conceive! For more information:

so, if the embryo is perfect or ET on day 3. If the embryo is so-so then wait the 5 days to see if it improves, or not, then do the ET? Personally I am beginning to think it is personal preference of the RE.

I have read so many studies, honestly I don't know what to make of it anymore. 3 day or 5 day, that is the question.

Thanks for the glue info!!!!

I read somewhere that they often do a 3 day transfer because of they wait five days and the embryos don't make it they don't want to be blamed for the cycle not working.
