How are you feeling? Better I hope. I know that the tension can get to be a bit much. I am responding to the alcohol question: I was directed to completely cut out alcohol and caffeine, but I did have a snicker bar, and a weeeeee bit of coffee at the beginning. Nothing since. Don't worry about what has already happened, just focus on from today onward. I would avoid alcohol, and caffeine, but I know every clinic is different. It is killing me not to have my coffee, but anything for little man, or little woman!

Thanks...I'm feeling ok - it's like i'm on edge you know?? Anything could set me off and that is SO not me which makes me more upset. But I've got to just keep going forward and think positive. You're right - no sense taking chances now....I only have one cup of coffee in the morning so that won't be hard to give up - it's the tea at lunch that will be hard to give up - I drink so much water during the day and at home at night that I like a variety at lunch. But you're right - it's all worth it!! Thanks and have a great day!!

I just got back from my u/s and it went great. My lining is nice and thin and they said it looks great. Unfortunately - my right ovary was playing hide and seek and they said she was barely around ... figures she was my strong one and now she wants to be shy. Oh well, I start stimming next Monday (happy labor day). I'm getting excited.

I stopped drinking alcohol and caffeine since 4th of July for this cycle. My Dr. said to stop the alcohol and stick to 1 cup of coffee (half caf & half decaf) if I needed, but I decided if I was only going to have one then I'll just quit it all together. It's actually been okay - except like Kim says ... I want that red wine when I go out with friends or to a nice dinner! Oh ... and a nice summer night beer too ... okay now I'm making myself thirsty at 10am!

Thanks and will let you know how the dr's visit goes on Thursday. BTW - I will be traveling this weekend with my stims so i'll let you know how it goes at the airport - my doctor will write me a note as well but as long as the Rx is in my name, shouldn't be a problem. Also - I was told to just check my suitcase with the needles inside there and not carry on board. Just the meds in some type of carrier where I can have a cold pack to keep them cool. Thank God my DH told his mother what's going on - can't imagine her face if I pull out needles and inject myself - HA! HA!

Hi Kim, I had the same worries and called my nurse and she said that there was enough in the vial. I would call your nurse just to check.

I cut out caffeine all together, but during my last cycle I would have some wine. This cycle I completely cut out alcohol as well. I miss my wine, but I am trying everything different this time around to see if it helps. My RE said that alcohol doesn't affect the outcome, but my acupuncturist says that it can so I just figured... better safe than sorry.

I know what you mean about the red wine... my husband had a glass with dinner the other night (one that we hadn't tried before) and I could just smell it and mmmm it smelled so good.

Mom2be - I think a little bit of caffine is okay. Something like one cup of coffee or 1 diet coke a day is not going to make a huge difference. In the past I too cut it out, but then I was suffering from headaches. This time I have given up my diet coke, but am still having an iced tea here or there.

I think we might end up with a very similar transfer date.

My Doctor did not prescribe Lupron. I just did 10 days of BCPs and took my last one this past Thursday. I started the Follistim and Menopur shots this past Saturday and even though I only took 10 days of BCP, I'm having a full blown AF right now. I go in on Wednesday to see where the eggs are at and am probably goin to start Ganirelex that afternoon, in addition to the other two shots. They told me to expect a September 3rd egg retrevial, give or take a day or two. I think that would have me putting them back in sometime between the 6th and the 8th.

So exciting!!!!

Hey Ladies:

I am only having decaf tea. Stopped Alcohol for past 3 weeks. My doc does not say anything abt the caffeine but did tell me to stop alcohol when I start IVF.

So I stopped BCP last Friday and AF came yesterday (very surprised) and I start stimming from Friday .....
I think my ER will be around 9th sept.

Am glad BCPs are over - I was so emotional past couple of weeks ... now fun with stimming hormones start

Thanks Samie - I guess that's all we can do is trust that they know what they are doing....I will definitely bring it up though at my appt. on Thursday. I'm praying for good numbers, etc. And regarding your right ovary - my left one does that and my doctor said that was I start the stims, it should "pop up" because it will be active so that's what I'm hoping for. Another thing on our prayer lists huh?

For the wine/caffeine decision - it's just best if I go cold turkey all together - I don't want any reason to cause problems....and at least have as close to perfect as I can going into the ER and ET. I will probably just have decaf in the morning - it's more of sitting with DH and reading the paper together that I enjoy. Thanks again for being here ladies - you guys are the best and I know that you can relate which is half of my battles. THANKS!!!!!

I got my Lupron period today--called in and was told to come in for my Day 3 b/w and US on Wednesday---

I have been sooo high strung this weekend. Anything could set me off. I got surprised at myself for getting upset/angry so quickly!! I usually can take alot before I get to a boiling point--but finding it hard to control my emotions! Going away with my med was not as easy as I planned!!! I kept it in my cooler but the vial got wet when the ice melted even though it was covered with two plastic bags!---Didn't want to leave it at the hotel---no chance for contamination. Also stressed out about taking the Lupron at a certain time, trying to be decreet in slipping away from the group to take it----it was kinda stressful!!! Glad to be home and ready for the next steps!!!

September is our month, girls!!!!

Hi Ladies,

Had my baseline sono and blood work this AM. They said I was well suppressed. No cysts and my lining was good. I am still on target to stop BCPs Saturday and start 20 of Microdose Lupron on Tuesday. Meds should be delivered Wednesday some time. Already have the Brevelle and Menopur. I have never used these two drugs before. I have been on Follistim which worked well and Gonal-F and Repronex which did nothing for me. Hoping this regime works better.

Also I will bw doing this alone. My DH is leaving for a month and I will be stiming, retrieving and transfering by myself with friends driving to the clinic. Fun, lol.

Ladies, I've been reading on the site that the chances of having multiples with ET depends on your age - does that mean the older you are the higher your chances or the lower your chances? I guess being older affects alot of things - most importantly the number and quality of our eggs right? Thanks for your help with my random questions. You guys are the best!!

I hope this is not TMI, but yesterday I got what appeared to be light blood mixed in CM and a few hours later a brownish discharge, but nothing since. Today I feel my right ovary pinching a bit. I called the nurse and she said that if I don't get a period by wednesday, I should call her. Today will be day 9 of my Luron shots. Is this normal?

I think the reason why there may be higher multiples in older women is because it seems that most REs transfer more embryos the older you are. Like my RE will not do more than 3 right now, but if I were over 40 he would do up to 5.

Well, I guess we'll have to wait and see how many eggs we retrieve from me and how many will actually fertilize. Then we would go from there - my RE said his goal would be only 2 good ones, but if I don't have 2 good ones then possibly 3 but no more. He told me and DH that his goal was to help produce ONE healthy baby - not multiples so that was very helpful. We do not want to be on a TV show. Thanks Nese - you're always a big help!!
