g Diapers

Has anyone used g Diapers? Are they good? Aren't they expensive though??? 40 diapers for $17.

How much does an average pampers cost for newborns?? How many diapers are there in a pack?

My SIL bought some and she is due any minute now. Not sure about costs or how well they work - I have no experience and neither does she... yet! But reviews online are very positive. I think you have to be careful about the "flushable" liners - apparently a lot of septic systems can't handle them so you could end up with a mess or a pricey plumber bill.

I have heard on here that they are not very absorbant, but have heard from actual people I have met that they are plenty absorbant.

The only issue that was brought up is similar to the one mentioned above. You need to make sure that your toilet can handle the insert, and has enough power to get it down. Also, apparently some people were just throwing the insert in the toilet and then flushing, when you are supposed to "swish" the insert around a bit to begin the process of breaking it up, otherwise, you clog your pipes. The problems have really been with toilets not being able to handle them, not the septic systems.

They sell them in my local grocery store. They are a bit more expensive than regular disposable diapers, but not too much so.

they seem pretty pricey, we used swaddlers pampers with ds i think i paid 25-30 bucks for 92 diapers.. tried huggies but no matter if it was regular diapers or the good nites he seemed to be allergic to them.. on the good nites he needed a shot of epi .. i guess it really depends on what your babies skin reacts to it

Also wanted to add that there is a yahoo group dedicated to using gDiapers with a lot of useful advice. Apparently there is a bit of a learning curve in learning how to use them. It sounds like when most parents got the hang of them, they were quite absorbant and leak free.
