Breast reduction and breastfeeding???

Hi... i had a breast reduction in 2005 and i remember specifically talking to my doctor about the possiblilities of breast feeding in the future...and he said "every women is different" and that is also all i find when i search the internet.

Just wanted to know if there is anyone that has had a breast reduction and was still able to breastfeed successfully.

My sister had a breast reduction 7 years before her 1st child and was unable to breastfeed. She wasn't sure if she would be able to or not until she was born and she gave it a try. Just like you said, everyone woman is different - you may have much better luck! I think it depends on how much breast tissue is removed. Best of luck to you!!

I had a breast reduction 20 years ago and was unable to feed.
I did have colostrom coming out but it was too little to satisfy the baby.I found bottle feeding a great and wonderful alternative and never once for a moment felt like any of my 3 kids have lost out as a result of me not breastfeeding.
I havent heard of anyone in my personal experience who has had that procedure and gone on to successfully and exclusively breastfeed.
I will bottle feed my 4th too when its born and enjoy every minute!
Hope this helps!

Good question. I had a reduction back in 1999 and was kinda wondering as well. My Dr. told me that it is still possible, but you won't know until that time comes.
Best of luck!
