scheduled c-section tomorrow 8/20
So tomorrow is the big day, I am going in for a c-section (due to difficulties earlier in my pregnancy). I am nervous, scared, excited...I am excited to meet her, but feel like I will miss having her in my belly. Are there any special things I should pack for the hospital?
Thanks to everyone here for all of your support! |

Good luck tomorrow! I have always packed my babybook to get their footprints in.

Congrats on meeting your baby girl soon! I do remember missing my daughter being in my belly when she was born too.
Take a tube of vaseline with you to the hospital. The babies first poo diaper will be meconium and it will be a sticky tar that is almost impossible to get off babies bum but if you apply a good layer of vaseline to the bottom before that first poo- it will make clean up much easier.

Good luck tomorrow!! And the people I know that have had C-sections have said that they wished they had brought magazines and things to keep them busy before the c-section because they can bump you back if there is an emergency or a lot of the times, at least around here, they run behind anyway. Hope you have a happy and safe delivery!

C-Section ~ AH the C-section the funny thing about a c-section is that some one will look at you (probably a nusre) and say "Are you ready", and you think about the question and go ~ no, I think I'll reschedule, this is after they preped you and you are ready to be wheeled in! You are NEVER really ready to go into surgery to have a baby pulled out, so it's such a funny question!
Anyway ~ you are going to have an amazing day full of lots of love, hugs, kisses, and pictures (I hope)! Good luck on your experience and update us when you can! You will miss the kicking, I did! ![]()

Oh congratulations, tomorrow is the big day. I can totally relate to how you feel and can say that yes you probably will miss carrying her around inside you. I so miss being pregnant and having Ethan with me wherever I went. Singing to him, talking to him, and rubbing my belly all day long.
Having a c-section you might want to bring some comfy slippers, your feet might swell and thus you don't want something tight. If you are nursing bring a boppy or extra pillow as you might be sore for a little while. Don't drink out of a straw, this can cause excess gas and after a c-section you tend to have enough of that on it's own. Do lots of walking when you can and everything should be perfect. Can't wait to see her beautiful face! |

Good luck! I hope everything goes perfectly for you! Can't wait to hear your birth story and see pics!

Wow - this was a very good thread to get info from and I had 4 kids...lol...I always forget my baby book for the foot print..
I always bring my birth announcement to the hosp. and when I have down time I start righting them out and I also bring stamps so someone on the way out can mail them. ( unless of course you are doing the picture birth announcement then you have to wait but you can always do the address part and place a stamp on them so there ready to go) I tried doing them at home but there was always something else I could do when I was home. So it always got delayed longer. I did pack magazines, lite snacks whoever is staying with me just in case it they got hungry or even long visitors. pack a lip balm your lips may get chapped but you having a c-section you probably wont need it but you never know. I always brought flip flop for the showers too. That grosses me out not being in my own shower so I refuse to have my feet touch the floor... sorry I cant be anymore more help.

Don't have any advice on the packing since this is my first but I love hearing what everyone else has had to say.
