Not looking good...

So my 2nd beta came back at around 470 with progesterone only at 14.5 so the RE had me come in today for an ultrasound. She said she was unable to find a sac and gave me a 75% chance its a tubal . It wasn't my normal dr. and he won't be back for 2 weeks. Anyways, my beta as of last night was a 1550 and the prog. was still at 14.4. They want me to do bloodwork tonight again and if they don't see a sac tommorrow they want to give me the "shot" to terminate the pregnancy. Has anyone ever had HCG at over 1550 and still had an eptopic? I'm so sad and confused at why my HCG is risen at a perfect pace and yet no bean?? I'm only 5 weeks!

I'm not sure I understand what is happening. I see how your betas have risen, and it's still early to see anything in there if you're just 5 weeks. But I'm sure the dr knows what is best. I don't have much advice, but I really hope everything will be ok.

I can't answer your question about the ectopic. What I am a little confused about are your numbers. If I am understanding correctly, yesterday your beta was 1550 and today your beta was 740? What did your doctor say about that? Either way, I am sorry you are having to endure this and I hope for the best for you!

Seems like your beta is rising normally. Are you currently taking any progesterone suppliments? If not, I would ask for them!! I have a history of low progesterone and have had to take them. It really helped me!! Good luck!

My beta yesterday was the 1550 and the 430 was from a few days ago... Its rising perfectly... I have been on progesterone supplements but they still think its eptopic because of the no sac...

Could be too early to see the sac. I don't think I had my u/s until I was about 6-8 weeks. I will keep you in my thoughts and prayers!!

Please don't let them give you the shot to terminate this pregnancy yet. It's so early still and your betas are rising beautifully. It's possible the tech could have just missed what he was looking for.. at 5 weeks the sac can be incredibly tiny. Most docs don't even do an ultrasound before 6w. Since you're on progesterone supplements and your levels are still on the low side, talk to them about upping the dosage or switching to a different type.. I've heard some women have better results from PIO vs suppositories or pills and vice versa. Don't give up yet.. we're all pulling for you!

I totally agree with Jenny! Dont do the shot just yet. I would seriously consider waiting untill you are between 6-8 weeks before you decide on anything like that. Sometimes the sack is really small at 5 weeks and there is not much you can see.......

I just went thru a similar experience, though my Betas were rising abnormally. I plateaued at 380 and went in for an u/s at 5.5 weeks. My drs wanted to wait and see what would happen naturally before proceeding. They were concerned it could be ectopic, but went in yesterday for an us and they saw a tiny sac. Good news as it wasn't ectopic and my levels declined to 211. So I will mc naturally. Moral of the story, I don't know why your docs are in such a rush. Unless they are concerned about possible tube rupture...that would be the only thing I could think of. Are you having any symptoms?

I agree with the other ladies, it seems a little early to see anything, the fact that your betas are rising nicely makes me feel that things may be alright and still on track. I really hope everything is turns out fine for you.

I'm thinking that most docs don't check until after 6 weeks. I was 6weeks and 3 days before they looked for the sac. I would wait.

I agree to wait and see it seems really early to see much, dont let them give you the shot until they have looked for a second time, or even get a second opinion, have another person do the u/s. And i was on suppositories and my levels never went up much once they were around 16 or so, and from what I have read the suppositories put the progesterone right where it need to be so it wont show up as much in the bloodwork as something like PIO shots, not sure if it is completely true but I have heard it a few times. I will be praying for you and your little bean!

Thank you guys all for your support! They said they are in a rush because they don't want me to lose the tube. They said that tommorrow hcg should be over 2000 and that at 2000 you can ALWAYS see the sac. But I also am a little skeptical since I have ZERO of the risks factors and pretty much they are basing this on being .5 from the "normal" progesterne level and the fact that she couldn't find the 2mm sac. With that said she did move me to a differnt room just to make sure she couldn't see it with an alternate us machine and on the 2nd one she said the lining was clear and no black dot... Please that the 25% works in my favor tommorrow.

I agree with the other ladies...I think it's a bit too early to see a sac. My RE would not do an ultasound until after 6weeks to find the sac. I would get another tech to do the next ultrasound before doing anything else.

So here is my story. Last May I got pg and my betas doubled every 2 days very nicely. My progesterone was low so I was given supplements. My betas started out low (15, 33, 76), but did double until we saw it at 355, then stopped checking. My progesterone was great at 23 now. 9 days later I started getting pain in one side. The RE did a u/s and did not see a sac. My beta should have been ~10,000. I was given methotrexate to terminate, but it didn't work. The next day my ectopic ruptured and I almost bled out. I was 6w6d when the ectopic ruptured.

My advice is to wait 2 days after that 1500 beta. Your beta level should be at 3000 and they should definitely see a sac. Sometimes betas don't go up enough the next day (it is kind of like a log scale, so full doubling can take 2 or more days).

I really hope this isn't an ectopic. I hope they see a sac tomorrow.
