What car seat did you by?

I am on a quest to buy the best but best priced car seats and I was curious as to what everyone else bought.

We bought the Orbit travel system, which is also the car seat for infant and then toddler. It wasn't the most cost effective, but it has a ton of great features.

We bought a SnugRide. We used it with our first also. It allows you to take you child out of the car without waking them. We also bought a stroller to match. It can be used for at least 3 years.

2 Britax for us, although not necessarily the most cost-effective option. I think the Graco is typically considered a great carseat at a great price. Check out consumerreports.com - their car seat report is free to everyone.

We got a Graco travel system as a gift. The Infant car seat is highly rated as far as safety. However my son outgrew it in 4 months so not very cost effective (even though we didn't pay for it). I got this one now
Evenflo Triumph Advance LX Convertible Car Seat - Hansen - Evenflo - Babies "R" Us
and Tristan likes it a lot better. Once I started using it he stopped crying during our long car rides.

We bought the Cortina travel system in Atmosphere. It's more of a demim blue than baby blue, so will work for either sex of a baby pretty easily. It's definitely not the cheapest, but came highly rated and seems to be pretty solid and easy to put together. THe only downside is the Chicco car seats don't fit in a lot of strollers, which is why we went ahead and bought the system. You can get an extra base for $60.

Our local Babies R Us only carried orange and silver. SO we ordered online from Baby Universe. A little cheaper and came in about 5 days.

Chicco :: gear for baby :: Travel Systems :: Cortina Travel System, Atmosphere

i also bought the chicco cortina travel system and really like it. it is very convenient because you can move the car seat from the car and snap it into the stroller ... all without ever waking baby. it also seems comfy for them and has a newborn insert that you remove when they get bigger.

We also bought the Chicco Keyfit 30 system, only in the Poetic pattern. I really liked this one b/c the infant seat goes to 30lbs, whereas most only go to 22lbs. I was going for the "more bang for my buck" travel system. It is easy to collapse and fairly light. Mine should be arriving this week so I'll get to play with it more in person.

Chicco Cortina Keyfit 30 Travel System - FREE Shipping!

Good luck with your decision!

We got the Graco SafeSeat since it has a weight limit up to 30lb not just 22lb like most. I figure, the longer we can keep her rear-facing the better. I decided against the whole travel system since I don't currently anticipate using a stroller that often.

We got the snugride, Graco MetroLite Travel System - Regal - Graco - Babies "R" Us as a travel system. We liked that the stroller was so light and could be used with or without the carseat. Sam seems comfortable in it, we have a base in each car.

My MIL bought our travel system, which was a Gracco Tour Deluxe with a Snug Ride car seat and it was highly rated and a great price. My friend bought a Chicco, not sure the kind, but she loves it and it also was a good price and her daughter is 8 months and she is still using it, so I guess the best thing to do is see which ones get good ratings and then go to the store and play around with them, that is what we did, people at BRU must have thought we were crazy because we were pushing the stroller around, taking the seat out, folding up the stroller, but if you are going to spend that much money on something I want to make sure it is what we want and like. We decided against the saferide from gracco because it was so much heavier than the snug ride and that was without a baby in it, so when he grows out of this carseat we will just have to get another one.

We bought the Peg Perego Viaggio SIP infant seat, and we are registering for the Britax Roundabout to use when the baby outgrows the infant seat.

We just bought the Graco SnugRide. It got really good reviews in the Baby Bargains book. It only fits a baby up to 22 lbs, but I couldn't see myself lugging a 30 lb baby in a car seat. We're going to get the SnugRider stroller and snap the car seat in. Light and easy.

We bought the Baby Trend travel system because the carseat was rated #1 in safety, and the price was not bad at all. This car seat also snaps into the stroller, and the stroller is easy to fold.
The only thing I don't like is that I have problems with the handle as it is really hard to get the safety buttons to go in to release the handle.
