Cool Constant discomfort...is this normal?

I wanted to just kinda survey with you ladies who are over 5 months how comfortable they are at this stage of their pregnancy....i am pretty much in constant discomfort...i have lower back pain, round ligament pain, with bouts of sharp abdominal pain thrown in that last for abt 10-15 seconds each. I have been in the dr's office 3-4 times over these issues...it always seems like everything's fine with the baby...so nothing to worry there..(not tht it has stopped me frm worrying). But i am still never comfortable, if i go out for shopping for instance ..if i am on my feet for over 2 hrs, by that time, i am getting bad abdominal discomfort, back pain etc, and the only thing that helps me is laying down. Even if i'm just at home sitting for more than 30 mins in one place is practically impossible, i have to get up and move about or lay down. Even laying down isn't the most comfortable for me, although it is better than walking, standing or sitting. I hope i don't come across as a whiner, or that i am not grateful to be blessed with this baby, becoz i am completely grateful, but my concern is more whether this is normal, than that i am not comfortable, if other's are having similar issues, i'll know that this is within the acceptable range...please help, and sorry if this was long.

I'm quite often uncomfortable, but not quite to the degree that you've described. I would think that if you've been to the doctor about your complaints and he feels that nothing is wrong with you or the baby, that you're probably fine. Unlucky, but fine. Maybe treating yourself to a prenatal massage would help you feel a little better. I hope you get some relief soon.

What you are describing seems to be pretty normal, maybe to a higher degree than most, but still pretty normal. As long as the abdominal pain goes away when you lay down or change positions its just a pain and not a sign of something wrong. I was lucky and didnt get that much pain and discomfort until 7 months, but then it hit me like a ton of bricks. My main complaint is the abdominal pain or sharp little stabbing pains when moving, especially when turning over in bed and now I have carpal tunnel syndrome so that makes laying down difficult. But remeber you are not complaining, you are vocalizing your pains and issues, and when pregnant I dont think anyone is complaining we are carrying around this little person and there are bound to be problems with discomfort and we need to let people know how we are feeling.

I read before someone suggested going to the chiropractor and that has helped a lot, my friend did it and said it made all the difference in the world. But I went around 5 months for a pregnancy massage and it was wonderful! So I highly suggest that too!

I believe its normal. I was so excited because everyone told me how wonderful it is to be pregnant and that they loved being pregnant. Girl, I have been uncomfortable from the beginning and I had NO morning sickness. I feel like all I do is complain and people look at me like I shouldn't since I "asked" or "paid" for this. I am VERY grateful for this baby and I love the fact that she is growing inside of me but it is not the WOnderful experience that everyone built me up for. Fact is, pregnancy is not FUN, it is a miracle no less. I don't have to feel like running a marathon to be happy about having this baby. Good luck to you, I am sure everything is fine if the Dr. says it is. Do try to relax though, try not to stress out too much. I have finally realized that I am fine and Bailee is fine, I am just miserable

I've not been too uncomfortable but I had wicked sciatic pain in the beginning. I saw a prenatal massage therapist that helped a bunch! Make sure the person you see is certified in prenatal massage, but I HIGHLY recommend that you at least give one a try. In the meantime get your DH involved in relieving some of your discomfort and take Tylenlol if you find that helps.

It certainly would make this time more fun if you weren't so uncomfortable, but it will be over soon enough and then you'll have your little one.

Good luck and I hope you feel better!

I'm still waiting for my beta, so I'm not in your situation...yet. But I'm wondering about a belly support and if that would help. I've seen them at Baby's R Us. Anyone trying it? Goood luck to all of you!

I'm 23 weeks now with full bedrest so any movement for me is uncomfortable. For the past 2 days I have had horrible pain in both my hips, I guess they're stretching?? My boobs hurt and I have BH contractions 2-3 times an hour which are more annoying and uncomfortable than painful. All in all baby is always fine, I'm sure it's just a phase we're all going through. Some of us get it worse than others, the way I see it, as long as our babies are fine and healthy what's a little discomfort, right?

I'm starting to get uncomfortable, but it's not unbearable yet. Pre-natal massage (I go every 2 weeks) and pre-natal yoga really help me. The teacher for pre-natal yoga asks about our weekly ailments and really tries to give us stretches that help us. I love it.
