I hadn't considered purchasing one of these, but after reading all of your posts, I'm looking into it.

We are planning on having our baby in a bassinet at the end of our bed. Is this something you would use in the bassinet & then in the crib?

I am planning on separating them right from the beginning. I have read that putting them together can increase the risk of sids so I'd rather be safe than sorry.

I'm interested to hear more about this because I've heard the same thing (due to risk of rebreathing) but then I've also heard the exact opposite. The rationale for the latter position is similar to that for having them in the same room as you - that having another being breathing so close to them doesn't allow them to fall into as deep of a sleep and helps them not forget to breathe. There doesn't seem to be a consensus on this anywhere that I can tell. So I really have no idea what to do! Interested in what you've found in your research.

We have one, and we are currently using it in our co-sleeper bassinet. Because the bottom of the co-sleeper is fabric, we had to put a hard surface under the mattress to put the sensor on. We've had a couple of false alarms when the baby scoots to the edge of the sensor.

I can't remember where all I have read about this to give you links or anything but it makes sense that it increases the risks to me. As for the risk being decreased sleeping in the same room - I think this is still the case when they are in separate cribs in the same room. This is why I'm okay with putting them in the nursery right from the beginning in separate cribs - otherwise I would want them in my room. I think we will all sleep better with our own space
