I've heard that some women (and some cultures) swear by these to get one's shape back after birth. Has anyone tried one, and if so, which brand? Also, I assume it's only an option for a vaginal birth and not a c-section?

I know they do have support for post c-section but not sure if it is for the same type of results. My Dr. suggested not to wear one after a vaginal delivery with the fear that it would inhibit clots to move and it being too constricting. I too heard all of the great benefits and will just tell you my story knowing everyone is different.

I got one as a gift and thought it was the greatest thing ever. I wore it only while home and after feeding my son I went to get up and thankfully DH noticed something was not right and grabbed him from me and I passed out. I thought it was from breastfeeding and ignored it.

A few days later while wearing it again and getting ready to get undressed for a shower I felt a little dizzy and passed out on the bathroom floor. I can't say for sure it was from that because your body goes through so many things post partum. But it never happened again after I stopped using it.

I would just say procede with caution and if you are uncomfortable or don't feel right stop using it. On the other hand my friend who recommended it used it with no problems and continues to give them as shower gifts.

I too am interested in this. I know that Motherhood Maternity carries some type of post-partum belly band that velcros in the front. It seems like it would add extra support as well as helping to get back into shape. I hope others who have used these types of bands will post.

my XMIL swore by it i never wore it after my section .. and now i have that icky punchy bag stomach.. my lil sis wore one after her section and was wearing here normal jeans about 3 wks later ....her hosp made her use it ..mine didnt

The one my friend swore by is by BabooshBaby.com it is called Taut. It is a little nicer fabric and quality than the regular elastic band ones you can find in most stores.

The "Taut" at BabooshBaby.com is exactly what Brook Burke used after her 4 kids and swears by them. I saw her promoting them...but who knows if she actually used them...you know?
