Newly pregnant and have a question..

Hi ladies! Congratulations to all! I am only 4 1/2 weeks pregnant at this point which has been confirmed by the doctor. First beta was 36, second beta was 73. So, obviously it's doubling fine.. My question is, just today I have starting having a dull ache in my abdomen, and I am noticing some brown pieces coming out of me (sorry if TMI).. I am wondering if the Crinone is irritating the cervix because I'm putting it up too far or what? I have put a call into the doctor because I am obviously concerned about a miscarriage. I know it's impossible to know that without getting a scan or another blood test of some sort.. Anyone have this and/or know what's happening? The "brown pieces" are only coming out when going to the washroom, I can see them in the water, but nothing on the panty liner.. It's been every time I go today. Yesterday it was in the morning and nothing in the afternoon. Do I have a reason to be concerned or am I just being neurotic? LOL.. Any help that any of you could give me would be greatly appreciated.. Thanks!

First of all, congrats on your pregnancy!! I know it's scary to have some spotting, but from what I understand brown spotting is old blood and not something to worry about. Especially if you're doing a suppository of some kind that can definitely cause spotting. If it were red, the doctor may be more concerned. Even so, red spotting is not always a sign of miscarriage. I had spotting once, but was almost 12 weeks and they were able to hear a hb. In your case, the only thing the doctor can do is recheck your hcg levels since it's too early to see a hb on u/s or hear it with a fetal doppler.

Good luck and I hope the spotting is nothing.

Congats on your pregnancy. That is normal for Crinone. When I got my BFP, I wrote a similar thread. It is normal to get "coffee-ground" discharge. In fact the longer I stayed on it, I had the left over build up coming out blackish purple. Chemical reaction? No idea, but all was well.

Congrats again!!

Hi ladies!! Thank you all so much for calming my nerves.. I spoke to the nurse and she said the same thing.. She wanted me to relax when that happens, and take things easy, and unless the bleeding gets worse and red, to not worry about it.. Thank you so much ladies, I guess I will just have to stress out until November 10th, which is my first ultrasound.. I am so excited about it.. It is still hard for me to believe this.. Thank you all again, I appreciate your responses and they have calmed me down.. And congratulations to all of you! You will make wonderful Mommies.. Luv and hugs, Carrie

If you are using crinone you should clean it out periodically. I did not know that after my first IVF and when I saw a big chunk come out it freaked me out. I cleaned out gobs of it - it looked almost like black scabs. My second IVF I cleaned it out every night in the shower so that it would not build up. I know it sounds gross, but cleaning a little out at a time was much better that the massive clean out.

Congratulations again!

Hey Socain! Congrats to you on your two girls, that's so fantastic!! I hate to ask, but how do you go about "cleaning it out"? Is there anything you can use? I am still having it, like coffee grinds and it's now been around 4 days.. It's actually disturbing, LOL.. So, I'd like to do it, but I'm not sure how you would go about it.. Can you PM me when you get a chance and let me know please? Thanks girl!

Hi ladies.. Well, I guess I am just having a really rough time with this and really need to be calmed down.. I cleaned out the "coffee grind" looking stuff, and now today, I am seeing some red spotting.. I guess the red in combination with the crinone pieces is what is turning ot the "coffee grind" stuff. I am so scared, and I think that I may be losing this baby. I am spotting red and it looks like it's getting worse, and I am so bloody scared. I have waited so long for this, and I have a feeling that it's coming to an end.. Please say a prayer that things go OK.. I just went to the washroom, and the water was tinged red. So, I know it's dripping.. Lord help me please.. Just talked to the nurse and she is advising me to come in for a blood test tomorrow to check the levels.. She said that it's not uncommon to bleed during early pregnancy, but it also could be the start of a miscarriage, but I am just so terrified.. This is looking like the start of AF.. How am I supposed to relax?

goldenhicks - I'll be praying that everything is all right. I know it's impossible to relax when you fear the worst is happening. I have read of lots of women on here having red bleeding and still going on to have their babies so don't lose hope. Sending you big hugs

Thank you so much Kris.. I really appreciate it.. I think I have talked myself out of it.. I had one what looked like a clot earlier, but then again, could have been the Crinone, don't have a clue. I haven't seen it since, and now it's back to the "coffee grinds".. Goodness sakes, I swear someone is playing around with me! LOL.. Thank you again, you are very sweet to respond to me and try to calm me down.. Congratulations on your son too! That must be exciting.. Hope you are well too, and I will keep everyone posted! It looks like it's letting up a little, but one can hope, right? I may still go for a blood test tomorrow to see how to hormones are doing, at least that would give a better indication.. Luv and hugs to all..

I'm praying for you too. I wonder if there could be some irritation to your cervix that is causing the spotting. The "cleaning out" that one does with the Crinone can irritate the cervix a little and I had some spotting from that. When you are pregnant, the cervix is so sensitive that BD or even touching in there can make you bleed easily.

Did they check your progesterone levels too?

Hey Deanna! Thank you so much for the prayers! I could certainly use them.. Yes, the progesterone levels were checked at beta and they were at almost 40.. That's higher then any other time I've had them tested. So, I would guess that's good, doctor didn't seem to be worried about that number.. I think my baby is just growing at his/her own pace.. LOL.. Stubborn like his Mom and Dad.. LOL.. I took another first response this morning, and the test line is darker than the control line which has to mean something.. I haven't seen that at all so far! So, I'm optomistic that it was just the "cleaning out" that caused some of the more prevalent bleeding.. Congratulations on your twins girl! I am so happy for you!! Secretly, that's what DH and I wanted too, was twins, but I'm not complaining! LOL.. I just wish the ultrasound would get here so I can see the little one hopefully all snug and warm and just where they need to be inside the uterus.. That would at least make me feel that much better! I was going to go for more bloodwork today, but I thought, why would I do that? So I can stress out more about what the numbers mean? No thanks.. I stressed out enough yesterday to choke a horse.. So, I will just know that I am pregnant still, tests say so, and enjoy. Whatever will be will be.. Just pray that this spotting stops. RE said it could last up to three weeks..

Anyways, thanks girl, I appreciate it! And take care of those two little precious beings inside your tummy! Luv and hugs,
Carrie

Holy ladies! Well, I decided to go have another beta today because I'm now on day 5 of spotting and I have been minorly cramping the last couple of days along with it, and my frickin beta came back at 525! It's doubling! I can not believe this right now.. I guess I will just have to wait until my ultrasound next Tuesday and find out what's going on with our little one! I can not believe that I'm not losing this pregnancy right now.. I thought for sure I was going to lose it.. I have been seeing red pieces for the last couple of days, bright red breakthrough bleeding, etc., and I thought for sure it was going to be any day, but I am so happy to see that my little one is growing! At least for now, everything is OK, and I can breathe a little easier.. So happy right now!
