5week 6days u/s showed one heartbeat...could there be more ??
Hi everyone.
I have been TTC for 5years. I finally got pregnant after many IUI's & IVF's. This is my first pregnancy. I just had my first u/s today at exactly 5weeks 6days and it showed one heartbeat flickering. My HCG levels were: 14dpo : 614 16dpo : 1020 18dpo 2500 Based on my levels everyone including my doctor were expecting to see two or more ( I had 3 embryos transferred. I'm wondering if there could be more that couldn't be seen? Did any of you see only one heartbeat and sac at your early u/s and find more later?? THANKS LADIES =) |

With an ultrasound that early, it certainly is possible an extra baby or babies could have been missed. My first u/s was 7w2d and it showed 2 babies. I went back two weeks later & there were 3.

Thank you soooo much for your reply. Congratulations on your triplets. Wishing you and your babies the best. I am so thankful for seeing one baby in the u/s..but was just a little concerned because of my high beta. Whether it's one, two or three ...I am soooo happy !! Congratulations on your pregnancy!
5w6d is quite early to hear a heartbeat, so maybe the baby is a day or two older than they think, which would explain a slightly elevated beta a few weeks ago? Also, your numbers don't seem too high to me....I've seen some girls on here with much higher betas that still have a singleton. Then again, there are also girls on here who find twins at 12 weeks or beyond. Either way, it's probably too early to tell at this point in the game. When is your next ultrasound? If it still shows a singleton, you can always ask them to peek around.
