Question for ladies pregnant with multiples

Hello ladies. I posted this question in the June buddie's thread. I wanted to find out if anyone of you was advised to undergo cervix cerclage and why. I know it's supposed to be done between 12 to 16 weeks if one has an incompetent cervix. My cervix is o.k, yet my RE says hed does it as standard procedure for ladies with multiples. I have read about it and to me, the disadvantages outweigh the advantages. I would like to know your personal experiences. Thanks.

Hi Niki, I was told by my perinatologist that there are risks involved with it and they don't do it unless absolutely necessary. They are still keeping an eye on my cervix every week because they are worried that I may deliver too early. So, for me, it won't happen unless it is crucial. I would see what your OB or perinatologist has to say about it.

Hi,

My doctor has not mentioned it at all to me. I know if there was a problem they would have done it if it was necessary. I am now almost 20 weeks with absolutely no issues, so I don't think it would be used here. Good luck and here is to a happy 9 months for you!
