so when did you girls first feel your baby move? and ... were you SURE that's what it was the first time you felt it? (is it obvious?) i am nearing the point where i think it's possible to feel so just curious what to expect. i've heard the various descriptions - butterfly, goldfish, etc. what were your experiences?

I felt my baby first move when I was about 5 months pregnant. Right around Christmas time, she liked to move to the church music. I had her in April.

that is so sweet! were you sure it was her when you first felt it?

No I wasn't, it just felt like stomach bubbles, but then within a month I felt it more and then I knew it was different. She was a kicker and a roller though. When I was 8-9 pregnant you could actually see her move, it looked like an alien was in me. It was crazy! She was an 8lb 8oz baby when she came out though.

I was about 16 weeks when I first felt him. It felt like little twinges. I didn't really believe it until I could start to feel it from the outside with my hand on my belly. The funny thing is the first time I felt him was after drinking lemonade and he has been the same since. Whenever I drink lemonade he is really active.

My DH and I were just talking and I said my absolute favorite moment throughout this entire pregnancy was when my husband kissed my belly and blew raspberries on it and the baby kicked him. That went on for 4 or 5 tries and it was the first time it all felt real like our little one was responding. That was at about 19 weeks. I am just so happy to know you are at this point and have so much to look forward to.

angela that is SO sweet about your husband blowing raspberries! what a great story - you have to write that down in a baby book or something. isn't it amazing to think of where we both were a year ago ... and now, you are about to become a mommy and i'm waiting to feel kicks. i love it.

When I was pg with my oldest, I started to feel him move around 18 weeks or so. At first I didn't realize that he was actually moving around until I went in for an OB appointment and explained to her what I was feeling. She told me that was the baby moving around. Then after that, I noticed it more frequently and then it became so real. This time around I stated to feel it a little earlier than before. I think I was about 14 weeks and started having this weird fluttering feeling. I just knew that it was the baby moving around. My OB told me it was little earlier for me to start feeling the baby to move but I never doubted it. When he got a lot bigger he became quite the kicker. And now he loves to move his legs and feet and still kicks a lot...but thank goodness he is kicking something other than my ribs or stomach.

What an exciting time for you Hannah! Enjoy every minute of it! When you do feel the baby, don't forget to write it down in your baby's book or journal.

i felt my first "flutters" around 15 weeks...it was def. like butterflies......i felt kicks at around 19-20 weeks....now i feel movement, kicks, taps all the time.......

I felt mine move at 16 weeks...it was only flutters initially ...but the kicks became stronger and noticable by 18 weeks and at 20 very regular.

I felt my baby move for the first time in my 16th week. It felt like a small bubble popping. I was standing in line at the funeral home and felt this little pop and it made me jump a bit, not because it was strong but because I realized what it was. I knew it wasn't gas and I wasn't hungry. I felt it more as the week went by. One thing I will say is once you feel that first movement don't be alarmed if you don't feel any movement the next day or even for another week. The moves will become a little stronger at 20 weeks and more consistent around 24 weeks. Best of luck!

thank you so much for all your replies! there is a pretty big range on here in terms of when people first felt it - that makes me feel better because now if i don't feel anything right away i won't worry. i can't WAIT to have that daily reassurance!

I think it was around 18 weeks when I was pg with my daughter... this time around I started feeling movements around the middle of my 16th week but wasn't sure if it was the baby or something else until it got stronger in my 17th week. It felt like little flutters or bubbles floating. LOL At 19-20 weeks I really started to feel the strong kicks... he kicks me all the time, all day!!!
