I have my first ultrasound scheduled for January 2nd 2008. I actually moved it from 5w6days(28th December) to 6w4 days (Jan 2nd).

I was hoping a week will make a difference in seeing the heartbeat? Has anyone seen a heartbeat before 6 weeks? What should I expect?

There are people who have seen a heartbeat in the 5th week but I wasn't one of them. At 5 weeks 6 days all I saw was a gestational sac. No yolk sac, no fetal pole, no heartbeat. I was so scared that something wasn't right with this pregnancy as well but just 6 days later at 6 weeks 5 days I got to see everything and it was magical. Your first ultrasound will be transvaginal. It's pretty straight forward and the first ultrasound provides the best measurement of how far along you are because beyond that they can grow faster or slower. As long as the measurements are within 10 days of the due date based on your LMP it'll stay the same. Best of luck to you!
