Dialated and effaced!!!

Well had my 37 2 day check up yesterday. The DR told me that I was dialted to a 2 and 50% effaced. Not sure if thats far or not? She also said I need to walk and do ball exercises to get this baby down. Anyone have any ideas or wivestales? I will do anything! I guess shes way high. Next week if shes lower she will strip membranes to induce labor. So hopefully I can get some advice and try and get this baby down this weekend.

well, I am probably not at the point that I should be walking so much but last weekend I walked almost 3 hours in the woods, and I noticed that night I could breath better and I no longer have a foot hooking my ribs.......everything is lower. try the walking!

I definitely recommend doing anything you can to help your baby drop down into position. I was head down at 34 weeks. At 37-39 weeks I was dilated 3 cm and 50% effaced. I thought this meant labor and delivery would be a breeze. However, while he was head down and somewhat low he still had some dropping to do. He never did this and I ended up with a c-section. The ball exercises really do work as they help to open the pelvis and allow a natural drop. Only wives tales I've heard are walking, sex and spicy foods. Sorry.

Sex won't help with the dropping, but it does help thin out the cervix. If you are trying to get baby to drop use the excercise ball. It really makes a big difference in most women. Sit and rock back and forth and that helps the pelvis open allowing for baby to decend downwards. Good luck!!!

Thank you everyone for the great ideas! I am on the ball right now but do you know how many times a day and how long I have to be on it each time? I go on it about a minute a couple of times a day only. Any advice would be helpful right now. I will try the sex but havent felt up to it. But at this point I will try anything.
