Unhappy Hands and arms go to sleep

Are you guys facing this problem too? Usually at night I get up because I have to pee but for the last 3 days I have been getting up because my hands and arms go to sleep and its really frustrating. Its like there is no blood flow in them. I have get up sit for a while and the circulation comes back and the same thing again once I go to bed. This usualy starts around after 3 in the morning and then I can't sleep.
If I sleep on my left side my left arm goes to sleep and when I sleep on the right the right goes to sleep. Yesterday the right went to sleep and its still bothering me.

Did you post about carpal tunnel also??? It's all related. I really feel for you & know exactly how uncomfortable you are. I found that if I propped my upper body up on pillows & kept my hands down by my sides it helped a little. I also wore my night splints every night. I hope you can find some relief. Are you swelling in other areas too, like your ankles?

No I didn't post about carpel tunnel. But isn't that in the wrists only?? Mine whole arm hurts but mainly the hands, fingers and arm below the elbows.

My fingers are swelling looks like it since my wedding ring is getting tighter everyday. Little bit my feet too. But swelling is a part of pregnancy right?? Is carpel tunnel too?

I have exactly the same problem. I think it's a combination of several factors: lower blood pressure; sleeping on your side; and nerve impingement in the shoulder. I tried sleeping, holding on to a pillow, but that didn't seem to help too much. I've also gotten some massages and tried harder, during the day, to keep my shoulders back. But mostly, I've been waking up at night to shake my arms until the blood flow starts again.

Good luck.

k.

It could be. Swelling and CTS are very common in pregnancy. I had the same problem. It's from the swelling...your nerves are being compressed. I really do feel for you & hope you can find some relief. I would also mention it to your Dr. as well if you haven't yet.

Oh I wish I had better news but I dont ... for me - I had the same thing happen about 20 weeks along and sill having the same issues each night. Even during the day sometimes. Night is worse though.

I wear carpel tunnel brace (from walgreens) during the day and it does help a tiny bit.

My OB said she had it with both her babies and it went away a few weeks after delivery. I am looking forward to that!!!

I have the same thing for 2 weeks now The doctor told me in was carpal tunnel syndrome. I am holding out before I start to wear splints. It has gotten worse. It started out with just my hands at night and now my whole arm goes numb and tiggly. Last night before I went to bed I could feel it in my elbows. My feet are swollen too so I live in flip flops. Lovely, lovely signs of pregnancy

I know lovely signs of pregnancy. I called my nurse and she said this is commom but she also mentioned that this could happen when the blood pressure goes really low. My OB will call me sometime today and discuss it with me. I hope its just carpel tunnel and nothing else.

I personally think all pregnant women should have a blood pressure monitor. I bought mine at Walgreens or CVS for like $15 and it has saved me from a few trips to see my OB just to find out all was okay.

I was somewhat relieved when I saw this post. I'm only 7 weeks and for the past 3 days I've been getting the numb arms and hands during the night and wee morning hours. I've never had carpal tunnel so this is all new to me and frustrating b/c it takes so long for the blood to come back.
