please help I need advice

I'm unable to get pregnant the natural way because my tubes are bad. We are considering in vitro. Problem is I'm 39 and there's only a 15% chance it will take and 1 in 200 chance I could have a baby with downs syndrom so I've been told. We don't have 20 to 30,000 for adoption what do we do? We are getting lic. for adopting through Foster care but we can only adopt 3 years and older because I'm a working parent. (Their rules)
I'm still very excited to have a child by adopting through Foster care but, I truely want an infant
How do real people have children when they don't have an extra 30,000 in the bank? I've even thought of donor eggs but I'm sure we're talking big money still with invitro and all. does anyone out there have any advice at all????
Wanting a baby sooo bad

First of all, there are many many situations out there that don't require such a significant financial output. Heck, our adoption of Ryan cost us a total of $14,000 (including advertising, travel, lodging, attorney and agency) and we were on the high side. MOST domestic parental placement situations run between $5,000 - $10,000 in fees and expenses. The ones you see 'available' on the Internet, etc. are so high because there are many many professionals involved, each requiring compensation for services, etc.

I would recommend you head to the library or your bookstore and get the following books:

The Open Adoption Experience by Lois Molina
Adopting In America: How to Adopt Within One Year by Randall Hicks
Dear Birthmother by Kathleen Silber

Hope this helps,

Regina, AMom to Ryan Joshua Thomas

I agree with Regina

There are many adoption options out there that don't cost the earth. Our adoption of our twins (increased cost due to two babies) came to less than $14,000. Good luck!

Maybe I am wrong, but the fact that you work shouldn't be an issue for state adoption. I was a working parent and it was not an issue at all when we became licensed. Are you going through a private agency that works with DFS or are you going through DFS itself?

Thank-you all so much for your response. I truely thought it would run 25,000 to 35,000 to adopt. Everything that I had looked at said to expect it to run about that much. I feel I have new hope. Thank you for the titles of the books I'll check into them right away.
I am going through adoption classes for an agency that works with des. They are suppose to be the best in AZ. They require you to be a stay at home mom for all infants.
Thanks again and God Bless
Carol

I wish you the best and I will tell you that if you want an infant I completely understand and hope you find your child soon, but adopting an older child(3 and up) is a great thing too. You have to feel that what ever age you adopt is right for you. We thought long and hard before deciding what ages were right for us and who we would be good for. Thanks to the fact that I have 32 nieces and nephews ages 1 day - 27yrs. and many of them between 2-12 we came to the realization that and infant was not our first choice. We realized that 2-10 would be best. I am happy to say that we were matched with two boys ages 4 and 7. We are still a legal risk situation, but I wouldn't trade it. Please keep us posted
