Talking Hello!

Hello everyone! I'm new to this board, and I thought I'd introduce myself My name is Jessica. My husband and I are making the enormous decision to stop IF treatments and look to adoption.

We started ttc in 2/99. We had a m/c in 8/02 (our only pg this entire time). Since then, I've done an IUI/Clomid cycle, 2 IVF/ICSI cycles, and a Frozen Embryo cycle--all failed. In fact, I just finished my second IVF cycle--and I landed in the hospital for 2 weeks with hyperstim and an intestinal infection (unrelated to the IVF).

We still have 3 beautiful frozen embryos to use, but at this point I need a break. I think my body has been through so much in the last few years...and after all these failed cycles, I physically and mentally need a break. We hope to try IVF #3 (our last one) in the future sometime, but it may be a few years. We both are very open to adoption, and although we've been informally considering it for quite awhile, now we are getting more active in our planning.

Anyway, just wanted to introduce myself! I can't wait to meet all of you!

*Jessica*

Welcome!

You are not alone in your IF! There are plenty of us here who have made similar decisions as yours. Just emerse yourself in adoption and you will find it is an amazing expereince. There are books, magazines, and forumns all over the place to let you know how it works and what to expect. There are also Adoption Stories on Discovery Health.

Good luck!

Jessica,

Hi! I'm new here too. Just started posting a few weeks ago myself. My husband and I have been through 3 years of IF treatments - everything but IVF. We're doing our last 2 Injectibles/IUI cycles at the start of the year. After 3 years of failure, we're not getting our hopes up too high that those will work. (Just our last-ditch efforts, so we can say we gave it our best shot.)

Because of that, we're starting the adoption process. We're currently evaluating different agencies, trying to find the one that fits our needs best. Then once those last 2 cycles are done, we can jump right into our home study and getting our profile out to prospective birthmothers.

Glad to have met you! I'm looking forward to meeting others as well for support and guidance through this process.

-Melissa

Jessica & Melissa,

To answer your question when is enough, enough only you, can decide that. I know for myself we did have to go through infertility treatments to conceive our child and we were one of the lucky one who was able to have a child. I have already said a preyer for you and Just remember you are among friends and there are so many preyers gone out to you I have faith in you that you will know when enough is enough.

Hi all, i am a newby too!

I have always known i couldn't carry, looked into surrogacy, and now, 2 years, 2 surros and 20k later we are still empty hearted and handed!

i will be doing the clomid challenge test this month, and will know @xmas which road we are to take! i am really leaning towards adoption as i don't know how much more of this emotional rollercoaster we can endure!
