How do you know when you've had enough?

Everyone here has gone through many struggles to have children. How much are you willing to go through to have a child? At what point do you just move on and stop trying to conceive? How do you know when you've had enough?

For me, 2 miscarriages and the pain that goes along with them was plenty of suffering for me. When I found out that I have a condition that causes me to miscarry and that I would need to give myself daily injections of a blood thinner in order help prevent miscarriages, I knew I was done. But for me, my experiences with doctors began many years before. I had been seen numerous times for a whole slew of weird health problems, including skin rashes, circulation problems, cysts, migraines, etc., since I was a teen. I had so many tests and was poked and prodded so many times, it was unreal. For a while, doctors thought I might have lupus, which was terrifying in itself. So, by the time I was in my mid-30s, I had definitely had enough!

When we decided to adopt it was such a huge relief and just felt right. Now that we have our daughter I am certain we made the best decision!

What about you? At what point would you decide you've had enough?

I'm close to that point. My DH has a lot of medical problems right now, so basically we're going to get his sperm tested, and depending on those results will tell us if we're going to TTC any more. We've done a few Clomid cycles up to this point. If the tests come back pretty good, we'll do IUI. If not, no more. I'm not putting him through any more testing and blood draws than he has to have now.

Hi Sari,
We definitely all have our limits! Infertility is very draining both physically and emotionally.

I will keep my fingers crossed that you have some positive news with the test results. If not, are you considering adopting a child?
